However, The Channing Salon is far, far more than that.
It's a complex breakdown of themes and story-craft by two smart, articulate, witty, and hilarious hosts. It's a close look into a friendship and fanship between two film-lovers. It's a frank and fascinating exploration of what film as a medium can do to explore themes of humanity, sexuality, gender, class, race, art, growth, hope, mental illness, and more--no matter how cheesy, silly, or shallow any script may seem on the surface.
Since listening I've come to appreciate both Tatum, his acting, and his films far more than I ever did before. More than that, I've learned more about the philosophy and psychology of storytelling, movie-making, and the social impact of pop art and become an even bigger film-lover.
I highly suggest you listen. With only 8 episodes released by the time of this review, there are a whole lot of films left to explore, and I look forward to them getting to some of my favorites and making me take a second look at those I'd already dismissed.
Brilliant, Funny, and Surprisingly In-Depth
