    Reverend Julie Kirby

    Julie is an ordained One Spirit Interfaith Minister, poet, homesteader, and celebrant. Whilst bringing up two children Julie worked at various voluntary jobs including editing a local magazine. After a series of synchronicities, she trained as a One Spirit Interfaith Minister and was ordained in 2019. An interfaith minister is independent of any particular faith path and aims to serve All Faiths and None. Shortly after ordination with the help of Dragons she moved with her husband to coastal West Wales. During the pandemic Julie broadcast short daily Facebook live videos as she felt a calling to be a visible spiritual and positive presence during that difficult time. In late 2020 she wrote and self-published Living Crumbs her first book of poems and prayers and her second book of poetry called Nature of Reality is out now (by the time of broadcasting) Julie and her husband have set up a smallholding and aim to be as self sufficient in food as possible. Julie writes a weekly blog on this lifestyle. Julie feels this is part of her ministry to live intentionally on the land. She is nourished by walking the Preseli hills and sitting quietly with ravens, and dragons as its there in the wild peace of nature that the words for her poetry flow.

    My fascination with Health and Fitness didn't just happen overnight; it was sparked in the crucible of my life's most challenging chapter. As a childhood Leukemia Survivor, I faced adversity head-on at a tender age. Rather than allowing it to define me, I harnessed that experience as fuel to ignite my passion for aiding others on their wellness journey. What began as a choice at the age of 16 evolved into an unyielding passion, propelling me towards higher education in Kinesiology. Delving deeper into wellness and sports medicine after college, I stumbled upon the transformative realm of alternative medicine—a pivotal moment that set the stage for the chapters that followed. Post-graduation, my hunger for knowledge remained insatiable. Achieving certifications as a Personal Trainer (CPT), Women’s Health and Fitness Specialist (WFS), Weight Loss Specialist (WLS), and Behavior Change Specialist (BCS) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine marked the inception of my professional journey. However, my quest for holistic wellness didn't end there. I ventured into Muscle Tension Release Therapy, weaving it harmoniously into my practice. As I immersed myself in holistic and alternative medicine, I also nurtured my spiritual side. This evolution led me to become an Intuitive Tarot and Oracle Card Reader, a Reiki Master Teacher, and a devoted Spiritual Guide and Mentor. As my career burgeoned, a realization dawned upon me: true wellness transcends physical fitness alone. It must marry the physical and spiritual realms together. This revelation led me to formulate what I now dub as the “Five Components of Wellness—Emotional, Mental, Social, Physical, and Spiritual Health.” An indivisible synergy among these facets is the catalyst for genuine holistic health. Among these components, Stretch Therapy stands as the cornerstone. It's a powerful tool that amplifies joint movements, induces relaxation, uplifts moods, alleviates stress, and reduces pain—an integral part of nurturing the mind-body connection. So here we are—embracing a holistic paradigm where the pursuit of wellness is a harmonious dance of multiple dimensions.

    For more than half a century I have roamed the wilds of Dragon Country. I have cavorted with Dragons scaled and feathered, large and small, from East and West. For the past forty-plus years I have been working with the Tarot. In that time, I’d often looked for a Dragon tarot only to be disappointed. The decks out there were, to my mind, pale and too human-centric, with the Dragons often little more than decorative arm-candy.
    When Llewellyn approached me about combining these two loves, I was thrilled. And a little trepidatious. After all, I’m a writer, not an artist. Fortunately, I was blessed to work with a wonderful artist, Firat Solhan. Firat was able to take my descriptions and (very) rough sketches and turn them into exquisite cards.

    Just as I’d imagined them.
