 I was once told that I was as feminist as one could be in the Church of Christ. At the time, I didn't know if I was supposed to take offense or see it as a compliment. I mean, how does one reply to that? However, now that a few years have passed, I find that I am content with being considered a "church feminist." For years, I have struggled with finding a balance between my role as a woman in the church and my role as a woman in the world. The Bible speaks often on a woman being quiet and submissive. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I am not good at either of those things. I am the loud and opinionated type. Not exactly the "picture-perfect" Christian woman. Knowing this about myself, I often questioned if I was being a good Christian and if God would be pleased with me. After a few years of studying on this, I feel ready to embrace my role and hope to be able to reach others who may be feeling this way as well.
