The Deck

By: audiochuck
  • Summary

  • For years, some law enforcement agencies have replaced the faces of traditional playing card decks with images of missing and murdered people and distributed those cards in prisons hoping inmates would come forward with information needed to crack these cold cases wide open. Now, audiochuck is dealing you in. Each week, we will be working with investigators and family members to bring you the details of some of the coldest cases from around the country in hopes that someone listening can finally bring these victims the justice they deserve.

  • Robert "Bob" Christian (4 of Spades, Wisconsin)
    Apr 16 2025

Our card this week is Robert "Bob" Christian, the 4 of Spades from Wisconsin.

In the Fall of 1977, Bob was just weeks into his freshman year at UW-Madison. He was a math whiz with a knack for computers and a big heart. At 18-years-old, there was no telling how far he’d go.

But no one ever expected to be asking the question… Where did he go? Yet here we are almost half a century later, with that burning question and just a string of bizarre clues that leads many to believe an infamous serial killer could be to blame for his disappearance.

    • Today, Robert “Bob” Christian would be 65 years old. At the time of his disappearance, he was 5’10” and 210 pounds. He had brown eyes, shaggy brown hair, and wore eyeglasses. You can find his photo in the show notes. If you know anything about Bob's disappearance or movements around Wisconsin in September of 1977, please call Detective Tyler Pointon directly at 608-355-3205. You can also call the sheriff’s office’s non-emergency line at 800-377-1195. Or, if you prefer to remain anonymous, you can reach Sauk County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-TIP-SAUK.

But chatting on her cell while walking up to her apartment in sunny South Florida during broad daylight, Gwen couldn’t have sensed her life was in danger. And even the friend on the other end of the line had no way of stopping the evil that was lurking just behind Gwen’s front door…

    • If you know anything about the murder of Gwendel “Gwen” Greenblatt in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the Royal St. George apartments on February 5th, 2003, please come forward. You can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 1-800-458-8477.

  • Kyle Seidel (5 of Diamonds, Connecticut)
    Apr 2 2025

Our card this week is Kyle Seidel, the 5 of Diamonds from Connecticut.

Kyle Seidel was a 34-year-old dad to three young kids when he went to pick up Chinese takeout the Friday night before Christmas in 2012. His wife expected him to be gone for only about 20 minutes… but Kyle never came home again. A violent encounter on his way to the restaurant cut his life short. For 12 years, Kyle’s family has been left to wonder why Kyle pulled into a bowling alley parking lot on the way to the restaurant, who he encountered there, and why they shot him. Investigators think they know who pulled the trigger, but they don’t know the why… they’re hoping that just one new piece of evidence could help them find answers and bring his killer, or killers, to justice.

    • If you or anyone you know has information about Kyle Seidel’s murder, please call the Waterford Police Department tip line at 860-437-8080 or call Waterford detectives directly at 860-442-0645 or 860-442-9451.

Big Fan

I personally love all of their content, excited to see where this podcast takes us! big fan of bringing awareness to cold cases / missing people and at the very least letting their families know their loved ones have not just been lost in a stack of cases.
Stay safe!!

Good, but Could be Better

I have high expectations of Ashley because I believe she is a trailblazer. Her stories, narration, and research are excellent. She tends to have trivial things that really ruin the podcast (not just this one. It's part of the trademark, I suppose! 😂)
The ads and their placement really ticks me off, especially because we don't have the option to subscribe and pay for ad-free content. Also, the intro at the beginning of each episode is unnecessary, and half a minute of theme music is just obnoxiously unnecessary! It's not even good music! Of the hundreds of podcasts I've listened to, only ONE had a stunning intro/theme song. It's the Culpable podcast, and the theme song is by the Dirt Poor Robins. You can find it on YouTube. If yours is not of that caliber, half a minute is far, far too long.

Su

Ashley I can't thank you enough for covering Su's murder. I grew up in Saugus so I remember this vividly and I also happen to know Marlene personally. every single thing the detective said about her is 100% the truth. Marlene is one of the nicest sweetest strongest women I have ever met in my life. I hope that this gets off someday because Marlene really does deserve answers as well as Su deserves Justice.

Extraordinary

I stumbled across "The Deck" after I hade binged every episode of "Crime Junkie" and was in desperate need of my true crime fix. This has it all! The narrater keeps your attention and has a way of telling these extreamly intimate grusome events while being completly respectful of the victums memory and surviving family and friends privacy/feelings. Someone needs to tell these stories and she has been anointed to be that person.
