In an especially powerful episode, we focus on the desperate situation of Afghanistan's women and girls 3 years after the Taliban regained control if the country. We look at the severe restrictions they face, and consider the effects of the rollback of freedoms that they had gained over the past two decades, not least, in a denial of secondary education to girls, effective imprisonment of women in their homes, and the seemingly bleak prospect for change any time soon. The episode sheds light on the urgent need for global awareness and action in response to the harsh realities faced by Afghan women today, and looks at where we may focus our intentions and prayer Suggested intention for this week This week, as we contemplate the poor opportunities offered to girls under the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan, we suggest holding this week as our main focus for intention: We will that there will be a movement of compassion among the Taliban’s leadership and all who have influence on its decision-making to immediately reestablish secondary school education for all Afghan girls. Please join us in holding this.
