About this listen
"Finish the race" is a phrase from the Bible that appears in 2 Timothy 4:7, where the apostle Paul writes, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”:
Paul wrote this near the end of his life to reflect on his struggles in preaching the gospel of Christ and his victory over them. He used the analogy of ancient Olympic and Isthmian Games to encourage believers to be as focused and dedicated as the competitors. Paul's exhortation was that believers should "run" for an eternal crown, not a temporary one.
Here are some other Bible verses related to finishing the race:
Matthew 24:13: "But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved"
Acts 20:24: "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God"
