• FAU Basketball hit by the portal
    Apr 10 2025

As feared, retention has proven difficult with FAU Basketball, at least amongst the top producers from last season. Matas & Kaleb are gone, Tre is soon to be departed. Ken LaVicka and FAU Basketball legend Damon Arnette discuss the new reality of FAU Basketball on a year-to-year basis and how fans need to recalibrate themselves accordingly. Also, Ken and Damon congratulate Alijah Martin on winning the national championship at Florida while also trying to determine at where FAU should draw a line at congratulating former players for their accomplishments at other schools.

  • FAU Softball C Chloe Yeatts: Slugger, star, almost car-denter
    Apr 1 2025

FAU Softball is awesome. Defending AAC champs. First place in the league. 32 wins (as of 4/1). Just annihilated UTSA in a historic three-game thrashing. One of the big reasons? Catcher Chloe Yeatts. The Oklahoma native has acquitted herself seamlessly to softball in South Florida and was able to spend some time chatting with Ken LaVicka before a massive first-place weekend battle vs. USF begins Friday. Ken & Chloe discuss the wins in San Antonio, the art of manifestation, just how "weird" this team actually is, invasive thoughts about damaging cars, her path to becoming a catcher (because every catcher has one) and her favorite between-games snack (if you have 2nd graders you probably have it in your kitchen) & bringing an old people's game back to the mainstream. A must-listen to hang about softball, and A LOT more, with FAU Softball catcher Chloe Yeatts.

  • Yes, FAU Basketball's regular season was successful
    Mar 11 2025

And with that, the regular season is over and it's tournament time! For Ken LaVicka, FAU's pounding of East Carolina was one of the most satisfying, most impressive wins of the entire season. With the regular year done, it's pretty clear that the Owls are the absolute definition of a good basketball team and Ken gives the number that provides the proof. Also, the Senior Day festivities had Ken thinking a lot about what could have been and what may come. Finally, a tweet from an FAU supporter over the weekend bothered Ken to a point that he needs to address it now: a message for all FAU fans and their sometimes skewed and jaded expectations/perceptions of FAU Basketball vs. reality and the barometer of "success".

  • Down goes FAU Basketball's winning streak
    Feb 21 2025

It was a frustrating setback late night at the Elly. Florida Atlantic basketball's five-game surge is over at the hands of Wichita State and Ken LaVicka is here to talk about it. Two different second half sequences spelled doom for FAU, while sketchy officiating helped finish the Owls off. Also, John Jakus' perfect word to describe his team's start to the game and why it speaks to a bigger picture hurdle for the Florida Atlantic program. Ken gives a tribute to the ultra-niche, ultra-excellent Seinfeld night. Finally, in a college football world where programs are canceling spring games out of arrogance...or paranoia...FAU Football is making theirs more unique and even more fan-friendly.

  • One hell of a homestand for FAU Basketball
    Feb 4 2025

You have to sit down and catch your breath after that FAU Basketball homestand. After delivering a pair of 20-point beatings, the Owls suddenly look the most consistent they have all season and Ken LaVicka discusses all of it. Over the past week, Florida Atlantic accomplished something it hadn't since the Final Four season. Also, choose your feel-good breakout: KyKy Tandy, Matas Vokietaitis, Nico Moretti? Baba Miller hit a milestone this past week that only he has accomplished in all of college basketball season, and in addition to that, Ken explains why he was most impressed with something not actually done on the floor this week but, instead, by something Nico admitted to him after the USF win. And yes, Matas is the Freshman of the Year favorite in the AAC, but it's tight. Ken gives a breakdown of who is challenging him for the award.
