Jerry Schemmel is a survivor of United Airlines Flight 232 that crashed in Sioux City Iowa on July 19, 1989. That crash took the lives of 112 people when one of the DC-10’s 3 engines exploded in air. Not only did Jerry survive, but he rushed back into the wreckage to save the life of a baby. After the crash, Jerry spent 10 years as a radio play by play announcer for the Colorado Rockies, 20 seasons broadcasting radio and television in the NBA, two years for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the last 18 with the Denver Nuggets. He is currently the host of "Amazing Americans" on KOA Radio in Denver, Colorado.
