In this outdoor podcast, we offer you insights into conservation, ecology and biodiversity from the tropical Caribbean rainforest of Costa Rica. We suffer through mud and mosquitos to get the beautiful sounds of nature right to your comfy couch.


The Work with Nature foundation actively protects a growing nature reserve and focusses on biological research, reforestation and community projects. As founder and biologist, I take someone out into the tropical rainforest and ask them what they hope to find, learn or experience. Since my guests change from students and volunteers to employees and locals, language might vary between different episodes.


This podcast is for everyone interested in tropical nature conservation, a follower of the Work with Nature foundation, living in Costa Rica and searching for information on it's natural splendor and hopefully many more.

    Samen met Jelte van der Bijl ging Maarten van der Beek op zoek naar de Yellow-thoated Toucan, één van de drie toekansoorten in het reservaat van stichting Work with Nature/Adopteer Regenwoud. Jelte rondt een stage van vier maanden af waarin hij primaire bosvogels onderzocht. Ondanks zijn indrukwekkend lijst van ruim 230 vogelsoorten zat deze knaller er nog niet tussen. Aangezien hij bijna vertrekt, doen we nog een laatste poging om hem aan zijn lijst toe te voegen. Vroeg in de ochtend zaten we klaar op een uitzichtpunt hoog boven het reservaat. We zagen in totaal 105 vogelsoorten, zat de wenssoort er ook bij?
