The greatest threat to Christian living is the constant struggle between the flesh and The Spirit. Temptations are sure to come, but what do we do when those temptations come? When you hear the words "I DO" you immediately think of a wedding and the vows that are exchanged. This is a promise made for a lifetime, a commitment that is made in joy, faith and in eager expectation of blessings to follow. But what do you do when you have walked down the aisle with a person who has lied to you, fooled you and has enslaved you? This is not a new or unheard scenario in our world, but the marriage relationship I want to focus our attention on is the one many have made with a far worse enemy - Satan! Is it possible that you claim to have a relationship with Jesus but are sleeping with the devil? Holding on to addictions, worldly values, and numbing your insecurities instead of bringing it to Jesus? Today Jesus not only approves your divorce of Satan, but Jesus also empowers you to get out of this abusive relationship and find your rest and peace in Him. Fast growth is great, but a sudden stop can kill you. What do we do when external forces and internal conflict brings your life's dreams and aspirations to a complete stop? It is in these times we are tempted to either press into our human instincts or to pull back and give up. However, there is another way, the way of God's Divine Direction. This is what we are exploring in this exciting message from Proverbs 21. Have you run out of resources? Are you depleted in your strength? "Have you received The Holy Spirit?" What a strange question to ask a person who claims to be a disciple! But this was the question that the Apostle Paul asks 12 disciples of John the baptizer in Acts 19, what is even more strange is their response, "we have never even heard of a Holy Spirit!" Many "believers" today claim to be disciples, and might have heard of The Holy Spirit, but have no evidence of His manifest presence in their lives, are you one of them? In this message, my goal is to encourage you to seek The Holy Spirit by showing you who He is, why we need Him and how to receive Him. You are on a journey, and every journey has a destination. Where we are headed is more important than the temporary ups and downs that we go through. As children we grow and make moves to align ourselves to a specific destiny that we vision, however there can be attitudes that eat at our vision, passion and ultimately our destiny. We are living in a time when the same old demons show up with new masks, and with the same purpose - to distract you from your purpose. Can we believe every voice and opinion? Obviously not! But how do we grow in discerning who to listen to and who to tune out? Over the years I've heard great sounding sermons with no heart tuning applications that leads it's listeners towards their purpose. Is it possible you are tuning into a voices that should be turned off? Are you a person of credibility to discern credible people? Successful living is not defined by what we have or have achieved, it is a life that has fulfilled it's appropriate purpose. The enemy of your soul hates it when you get closer to your purpose, and so he spins a bunch of lies to keep you from it. Addictions stem from believing lies. Lies like, "You need to numb the pain" Or "You are not really an addict and can quit any time you choose to" or even, "You're in so deep there is no hope for you." God's Word through His Holy Spirit wants to shed His light in the darkness of your entrapment and set you free.
