It all started with a simple brainstorming session on how to make extra money for the holidays. Coming from a large Italian family that knows and loves food, desserts immediately came to mind. Mom (Carol), Sis (Lynn), and I, knew if we were to be successful selling a dessert, certain criteria had to be met. We needed a product that would be ‘to die for’ each and every time we made it, and we needed a product that could be enjoyed anytime – for any occasion or event. And with that, our family’s favorite cheesecake dessert was re-named ‘CaroLynn’s Cheesecake’! How long have you been in business? CaroLynn’s Cheesecake was first presented to the public at my son’s high school craft show in Papillion, Nebraska, on Saturday, October 16th, 2010. What originated as an opportunity to market test our product and take orders for the holidays, turned out to be a full blown presentation. We offered samples to everyone, knowing that once they tasted it, they would love it and would have to have it. We wanted to appeal to women – thus the pink boxes! Once the women started to buy the cheesecakes, the ‘word of mouth marketing’ began. Shoppers were all wondering and asking what was in those pink boxes that others were carrying around. The plan worked like a charm! We gave away over 500 samples and sold every single cheesecake we had! As the customers inquired about our next event, they encouraged us to attend the next local craft fair. On November 21st, we attended the Papillion South Craft Fair and in a short 2 ½ hours we sold 75 CaroLynn’s Cheesecakes!
