• God Gives the Increase
    May 20 2025

    1 Corinthians 3:5-9

Taking a break from our series on the heart, Troy takes the time to directly address the church today as they are getting ready to host a community outreach dinner. He shows that we are altogether laborers with God in the work of reaching the world for Christ. The pastor is not the only one who is tasked with sowing and reaping the gospel, this calling is for every believer in the church. But we must be encouraged even in the face of rejection and persecution. We are simply called to sow and water the Word, it is God who gives the increase!

The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel!

We are working on getting our back-content uploaded, please bear with us. We unfortunately began recording part-way through a long series on prayer, but have since moved out of that series and are on to wherever the Lord leads next. We at Bald Mountain Baptist Church are so glad you have joined us here, and our prayer is that you are blessed by this message!

Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
    Isaiah 42:10-11

Troy Westmoreland and Cory Martinez are the co-pastors of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. They alternate on a semi-regular basis, and our prayer is that their insights from the Word of God may richly bless all those who stop by our neck of the woods!

  • The Field of the Slothful
    May 20 2025

    Proverbs 24:30-34

Talking about the heart, Solomon says in the book of Proverbs that a man who has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls (Prov 25:28). When it comes to the Christian walk, our very hearts are like a walled city or in the case of Proverbs 24, a walled in field that must be maintained. Those who are slothful in their spiritual life will face the same dangers as those who are slothful in their physical lives. We must take care to diligently guard and tend our hearts that we might be physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritual healthy and fruitful followers of Christ.

The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. • The Greatest Frontier
    May 18 2025

    Proverbs 18:1-2; Proverbs 16:1-2, 25, 32; Proverbs 23:23-26; Psalm 139

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark helmed one of greatest expeditions of all time. After the Louisiana purchase in 1803, they would embark on a journey that will be remembered as long as history is recorded. They set out to map part of one of the greatest frontiers that has ever been know to man- the American West. Yet, Troy argues that there is one frontier that is greater than any frontier known or unknown- the human heart. It is a frontier that is violent, raging, dangerous, containing hidden valleys and perilous mountain peaks. The fool has no desire but that his heart would discover itself. Today's message is that we must learn to pioneer our own hearts and bring them under the Lordship of Jesus Christ no matter the cost.

  • Moving the Mountain
    May 18 2025

    Matthew 17:14-21; Mark 9:17-27

In the face of trying times for today's church, we must learn to have the type of faith that Jesus describes in these texts. Many of us have probably heard a sermon out of these passages about "the faith that moves mountains." Troy takes this passage from a different perspective that we hope will challenge your own personal walk of faith. This was a hard sermon to preach as well as to hear. Much of this message is specific to the context which Bald Mountain Church is currently facing, but anyone can take the truth that Troy delivers out of this passage and apply it their own ministries.

  • The Vision of Christ
    May 18 2025

    Matthew 11:25-30

Have you every been weary? Have you even been burdened with something? Well Jesus tells those who have been exhausted and weighed down to come to Him and take their yoke upon themselves. His yoke is easy to bear, and the burden He gives us is light. In order to appropriate the rest that Jesus promises, we must have the proper vision of Him. We must know that He is meek and lowly, that He humbles Himself to enter right alongside of us in the work and the bear the burden with us. We must see Him for how He truly is. Only then will we learn to carry everything to Jesus and take His yoke upon ourselves.

  • The Desires of God According to His Children
    Apr 28 2025

    Jeremiah 29:10-14

Pastor Cory brings a powerful Word out of the Old Testament book of the Prophet Jeremiah. This is truly a prophetic Word for us today! God tells Jeremiah to prophesy to His people and let them know that, while He may have brought judgement upon them because of their sins, that this is not His ultimate desire for His children. Even though we sin, God's thoughts toward us are peace and love. Even in His displeasure, God desires to use His judgement to chastise us and bring us back to Himself. Our Father desires that we seek Him and know Him, and that we experience His powerful deliverance from sin through the precious sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

  • The Unknown God
    Apr 28 2025

    Acts 17:22-31

When Paul gave his gospel presentation to the people of Athens at Mars Hill, he was talking to some very religious and spiritual people. However, religiosity and spirituality are not enough to save us. The only thing that is going to count on that great day of judgement is whether or not we have been found in the righteousness of the One Man that God has ordained. Even in the church, there are so many who think that their works and their good deeds are going to help them on that day. Let us never forget that on our best day we are mere sinners at best, and that it is only by faith in the Sacrifice of Christ that will save us.

  • Prayer in Action
    Apr 28 2025

    Matthew 6:9-10

While prayer is the acknowledgement of our inability, that doesn't mean that it is an excuse for our inaction. Prayer is acknowledging our complete and total dependence upon God, but that dependence does not entitle us to simply sit back and do nothing. In fact, it is precisely the opposite. God has given us work to do in His kingdom, and it is in the doing of this work that requires dependence on our part. Praying to God does not remove our responsibilities in the world. Rather, it is because of the responsibilities and burdens that He has given us that we need to be empowered by God through prayer.
