  • The Music Lover Episode 1 - The Background
    Sep 7 2024

In this episode, I talk about the roots of my DJ journey, going all the way back to my childhood. Growing up in a house of seven, I was surrounded by all kinds of music, with different tunes coming from every room. From my brother’s rock anthems to my sister’s love for Wham!, music was a constant presence in my life. The real turning point came when I lived above a pub, which had a jukebox. I had the keys and could give myself 20 free credits every day, so I started curating my own sets, planning which songs should play first and paying attention to how customers reacted.

That experience of reading the crowd and experimenting with song progression set me up for my first real DJ gig at 15, when I DJed a leaving party at school. It was an unforgettable moment that sparked my obsession with playing music for others. From there, I worked my way up to owning my first DJ setup, getting my first paid gigs, and becoming a resident DJ.

Throughout the episode, I share how my passion for music has been a constant thread in my life, and how those early experiences shaped the DJ I am today. I’ll dive deeper into this journey in future episodes, but for now, I hope this gives you a glimpse into what inspired me to start DJing.
