Her book Building Inclusion: Practical Guide to Inclusion in Architecture & the Built Environment, is being published by Routledge in August this year.

Her best-practice solutions are rooted in CQ – cultural intelligence – the behavioural capability to work and relate effectively across difference.

She was the inaugural Director of Inclusion and Diversity at the Royal Institute of British Architects, before which she had a 30-year career in broadcasting, including 20 years at the BBC.

About Dan Leon, Square Feet Architects

Daniel Leon set up Square Feet in 2004 to do things differently. We’re a small and experienced team with a track record in inventive, pragmatic design. We invest time in developing fun and productive relationships with clients and specialists like interior designers, craftspeople and engineers to deliver successful projects, based on real conversations.

Prior to settling up SFA, Daniel studied in Liverpool and Seattle, worked in Manchester and Sydney, and in London for Levitt Bernstein and Buschow Henley - working on project such as regeneration and housing in Dublin and Leeds, arts projects such as St Luke’s Old Street for the London Symphony Orchestra, and buildings for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Daniel was a RIBA Councillor from 2014-17, sat on their Library Committee (responsible for outreach, the drawings collection and exhibitions), and is a RIBA Conservation Registrant. He has been part of judging committees for RIBA Stirling Prize, sits on Design Review Panel and Jewish Heritage UK’s Caseworker Panel, and a guest critic at Westminster School of Architecture.

He has published a children’s book and had paintings exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023, chairs his local residents association and manages an under 11’s football.

ABOUT Andrew Jarman

Andrew Jarman is a Project Architect at Ellis Williams Architects and an Ambassador for the Architects Benevolent Society. Andrew is passionate about sustainable design and has become an advocate for better mental health in practice in recent years. Andrew was a beneficiary of ABS support in 2019 after a mental health crisis and following a short but transformative period became an Ambassador.

Andrew has gone on to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider and has organised events with the Liverpool Architectural Society and Liverpool Architecture Festival to promote a more open dialogue around mental health, speaking candidly about his own experiences in the process.

Andrew has engaged in various outreach works at schools whilst completing his Part 3 in Yorkshire and more recently as an Ambassador for PlacED in the Liverpool.

ABOUT Darya Simonovich

I am Darya, the CEO and founder of Chelsea Creperie, a coffee shop on Fulham Road, and Chelsea Swim Spa, a swim school for children. I also rent properties short term for filming and advertising. I have a few other cool ideas in the making, such as a dog hotel, and really would like to take my workshops for entrepreneurs to another level.

Last but not least, I am a mum of three: two girls and a boy.

In 2021, I graduated from the 10K Small Businesses Growth Programme run by Oxford University and Goldman Sachs, a free programme that I would highly recommend to anyone. I am a business mentor for the ‘Help to Grow’ government programme.

I’m currently writing a book ‘The Immigrant Entrepreneur: 21 Practical Hacks for Business Resilience.’

The book tells the story of my journey to the United Kingdom, where I arrived with very basic English, without knowing anyone, and with barely enough money to survive for a few days. Despite these challenges, I managed to build several businesses from scratch, and I believe that if I could do it, anyone can.
