Today I was joined by Gary, a Senior Recruiter who was enrolled onto the Job Retention Scheme in early April 2020. A little frustrated at the time, he felt it was important that he make use of this time he was given.

In this episode Gary told us that when a family member was struck by COVID-19, he decided to ‘Run for Reg’ and run 100miles from a treadmill at home. After raising 6k for charity and getting featured on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV breakfast show, he realised that people everywhere were reaching out to him to ask for advice and support on making the most of the time on furlough.

Since then, he’s launched an initiative called ‘FurLearn’ which is designed to bring inspirational stories, training and support to a fast growing community of people currently furloughed and unemployed across the UK.
