  • God Has a New Story for You
    Sep 19 2024

Abandoned by his father and sexually abused as a pre-teen, Jim Miner’s life was one of brokenness, infidelity, and hopelessness. “All I wanted to do,” he remembers of hitting rock bottom, was to “die in the darkest, dankest, stinkiest, ugliest corner of a back alley off of Bourbon Street.” It was the grace of God, he says, that taught him how to let go—of his sexual obsessions and his long-simmering resentments, both of which were eating him up inside. Now this once hopeless individual is leading small men’s groups, both in person at his church in Iowa and online with The Redeemed. Jim bravely shares his story with Nate Dewberry and our listeners this week, offering life lessons, reassurance, and many kind words for the men he leads in his groups—men whom he calls, with tears in his eyes, his “heroes.”

  • Learning to Wait on the Lord
    Sep 12 2024

During his days in the Navy, Charlie Watkins’ best friend was a surgeon who was great with patients, always stayed in shape, and maintained a smile on his face even in the high-stress environment of a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser. One day Charlie asked his friend, “Jim, you’ve got to tell me what you’ve got!”—and was invited to a Bible study session that forever changed his life. Today, as a successful businessman and Christian leader, Charlie is the one other men are coming to for inspiration and advice on issues ranging from deep-seated family wounds to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. He relates what he’s learned over the course of his fascinating life in his new book, Throw No Rocks—and discusses those lessons in a deep, rewarding conversation with Nate Dewberry in this week’s edition of The Redeemed Man.

  • Seeing Yourself the Way God Sees You
    Sep 5 2024

Ron Acosta’s childhood was a nonstop litany of insults, abuse, and even outright abandonment. Constantly having to hear people (even his own family members) tell him he’d never amount to anything made him that much more motivated to succeed in life—and succeed he did, eventually becoming the VP of operations at Walmart. But he still had to confront the wounds of his past—and he still had to learn that no matter how motivated or driven you might be, there’s more to life than “winning.” Ron, who just published his memoir Unstoppable Grace, talks with Nate Dewberry about how he’s navigated both the agonies and triumphs of his incredible life story. And he shares lessons he’s learned along the way about leadership, dealing with trauma, and learning to see yourself not as the person your worst detractors say you are, but as the person God knows you to be.

  • Maintaining Faith Through Both the Peaks and the Valleys
    Aug 29 2024

In his very first “Mighty Mite” football game at age six, on a play called “Splat Green Sweep Right,” Jordan Kunaszyk scored a 60-yard TD. Today he’s an NFL veteran who’s played for Carolina, Washington, and Cleveland. But Jordan isn’t shy about admitting that the journey in between—like his personal faith journey—has had plenty of ups, downs, and false starts. This week Jordan talks with Redeemed founder Paul Amos about both journeys and what he’s learned along the way—about perseverance, living a moral life, putting God’s word first, and maintaining a strong faith even through frustrating times.

  • Are You Built Different?
    Aug 22 2024

As a doctoral candidate in counselor education and vice president of the American Association of Christian Counselors, Zach Clinton has seen up close our society’s epidemic of depression, loneliness, and hopelessness. In this week’s podcast, he talks with Redeemed founder Paul Amos about ways men can combat that epidemic, build emotional and spiritual resilience, and overcome the things standing in the way of a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God. Resilience, he says, can be summed up with the two words that form the title of his new book, Even If: Even if the world bombards us with challenges, pressures, and temptations, by staying true to our faith, family, friends, and principles we can achieve courageous and fulfilling lives.

Through his work at Wildsparq, an online leadership training system, he helps to broadcast those lessons to managers and business leaders in a way that will benefit them in their family lives as well as their careers. And he shares some of them with Nate Dewberry in this week’s podcast, which touches on topics ranging from interacting effectively with family members and co-workers to bouncing back from major disappointments and discovering one’s true identity in Christ.

  • Walking On In Our God-Given Purpose
    Aug 8 2024

It was supposed to just be a fun story for the USC student newspaper, but Ben Malcolmson’s tryout for the Trojans football team led to a spot as a walk-on wide receiver—and a lengthy professional relationship with head coach Pete Carroll, whom Ben served as a special assistant when Carroll became head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Ben’s story wasn’t without its challenges, pitfalls, and disappointments, but in the fullness of time, he came to understand the purpose God had in mind for him—and why God had put him on such an amazing path. Ben talks with Nate Dewberry on this week’s podcast about his experiences in the fast-paced world of professional football, living fully in our identities in Christ, and staying willing to trust God’s for us even when the full picture isn’t immediately clear.

  • Openness and Authenticity is the Only Way
    Aug 1 2024

Singer/songwriter Kristian Stanfill has been leading worship services ever since he was 15 years old; unfortunately, he had a drinking problem for nearly that long. He’d managed to mask it reasonably well for years, “talking around” his struggles rather than admitting to them directly. But it all came to a head in November 2020, when his wife and two best friends finally confronted him and he found himself on the verge of losing “every good thing that God has given to me.” Over the course of his recovery and sobriety, though, Kristian says he’s learned a lot about redemption, grace, and the true nature of the freedom God offers us. He’s also learned a lot about the importance of being open and honest—with God, our loved ones, and ourselves. Kristian says he’s found incredible fulfillment in sharing that message with others, and he shares it with Nate Dewberry and The Redeemed Man audience in this week’s podcast.
