  • Lucy Letby: A scrawled post-it note
    Oct 24 2022
This week, Caroline and Liz begin outside the crown court where Liz goes over the opening statements of both the prosecution and the defence. The prosecution accuse Lucy Letby of being ‘a poisoner’ and ‘constant malevolent presence’ on the unit, while the defence say the case against her is based entirely on coincidence and assumption, describing her as a hard working nurse who only tried to help the babies in her care. We’ll also hear from David Banks, a media law expert, who explains the fine line journalists tread when reporting ongoing trials. Headliner case w/ mediocre reporting

I've listened from beginning to end, but the most recent (the verdict) episode was terribly disappointing. The recording was posted many hours after the verdict hit national news, and furthermore stated Letby had been on a "killing spree", which is undeniably incorrect. By true definition of her convictions, she is a "serial killer". There is absolutely a difference between the two types of killers. Had these podcast journalists listened to the news reported 1/2 a day before their "news" was publish here, they would have know this fact.
