About this listen
Welcome, dear listeners, to Whispers in the Dark—where shadows tell stories, and the night breathes secrets. I’m your guide through the unknown, your storyteller in the silence, weaving tales that will haunt your thoughts long after the last word fades. Here, we embrace the eerie, the unsettling, the stories that lurk just beyond the edge of the firelight. So settle in, dim the lights… and listen closely. The darkness has something to say.
The seventh haunting tale from Whispers In The Dark Podcast is nearly here... and it's one that will haunt you long after the final whisper fades.
‘The Wheeping Nun’
Reverend Elijah Cross arrives in the desolate village of Gloamhollow to replace the mysteriously vanished Father Alaric. The church he inherits—St. Sebastian’s—is a crumbling relic cloaked in mildew, whispers, and unease. The villagers offer no warmth, and Elijah quickly realizes that the parish hides more than just decay.
Night after night, a woman’s sobs echo through the sanctuary, pulling Elijah into a deepening mystery. His investigation uncovers the grim tale of Sister Agnes—a nun condemned for sacrilege in 1637, buried alive beneath the altar, and left without rites. As Elijah is haunted by visions and voices, he uncovers a long-suppressed history of violence, betrayal, and spiritual rot. The church bell tolls itself. Shadows shift. And the line between prayer and curse begins to blur.
What begins as an exorcism becomes a descent into a truth older and crueler than Elijah imagined. The crypt holds secrets that were never meant to be disturbed—and when the seal is broken, something buried rises not just in sorrow, but in wrath.
As the veil between the living and dead thins, Elijah must confront the sins of the church, the legacy of silence, and the cost of absolution. But some griefs do not fade. Some cries never cease.
And some spirits—like Sister Agnes—will not rest until justice is served.
