About this listen
Tim Schenken is a motorsport icon, who has recieved an Order of Australia medal for his services to Motorsport.
Tim is one of only 26 Australians to have competed in the Formula 1 World Championship, and 1 of only 6 to finish on the podium in F1. In addition to that, he has also raced for Ferrari in Sportscar racing, where he would win a number of prestigious endurance events.
He has also raced at the iconic LeMans 24-hour of six occasions, before returning to Australia, where he'd spend many years at the helm of the Supercars Championship as Race Director.
He currently works for the FIA in a number of different roles, and is the Chairman of the organising comittee for the Australian Grand Prix.
Tim joins us on 'The Podium' to go on a special walk down victory lane and reflect on his upbringing, move to Europe, racing in Formula 1, relationships with Sir Frank Williams, Sir Jack Brabham, Bernie Ecclestone, Helmut Marko, Ron Tauranac, Ron Dennis, and other key motorsport figures.
Tim also discusses what it was like to race for Ferrari in sportscars, competing at LeMans, and his return to Australia, where he would become Race Director for the Supercars Championship.
We also get Tim's thoughts on the current state of motorsport in Australia, and the explosion of popularity for Formula 1.
All that and much more in this special long-form interview with Tim Schenken!
