Top Chef and I: Cynthia Sestito (S1, San Francisco)

  • Summary

  • From the first episode, Cynthia Sestito had a frantic energy that could not be ignored. Her kooky state of mind she evidently expressed outwardly throughout the show was as much of a remark to viewers watching as they were to her competitors cooking alongside her. While being kooky isn't anything abnormal for the Hampton gal, it was adjusted so direly during her time competing when she was simultaneously dealing with her father's cancer diagnosis. Balancing the competition with the thoughts of her dad in agony proved too much for her, and she exited the competition on her own accord in the third episode. Even with such a short appearance, I can sense a sharpness she pertains in that kooky mind of hers, and I try to break it down with as much observation (and as less foul language) as I possible can.

"Top Chef and I" is a commentary analysis retrospective that takes a look at the performances of those that competed on the hit food competition program. Taking everything into consideration, from food displays to personality dilemmas, "Top Chef and I" aims to be insightful and funny for viewers to enjoy while being considerate to those that participated and their state of minds they were having at the time they competed.
