True Crime - The legend of Legend of Lakey Creek the Headless Horseman

  • Summary

  • This is a true crime that happened in McLeansboro Illinois. The story goes that a man named Joel Leaky had owned a piece of property prior to 1824. They think that Lakeys Creek was named after him because Leaky was a modification in the last name to Lakey. Mr. Leaky was found by a passerby that found Mr. Leaky with his head decapitated by his own axe, no one saw or new anything about what happened, and the person or persons was never caught, that is if he was murdered, or in a freak accident he decapitated himself. The legend goes that there were some individuals who were walking down the creek that there was a headless figure riding on a black horse charging towards them, there has been numerous accounts of witnesses seeing the same thing headless figure riding the black horse. I have not gone and checked this out for myself yet, but I will soon enough, and I will post it to my YouTube Channel when i do.
