  • Crime and Punishment, Real and Imagined
    May 9 2025

Jacob Moon spent 28 years as a corrections officer in one of Florida's huge county jails. Much of that time was spent supervising psychiatric inmates. So, it's not surprising that the villain of his latest novel, Letter 26, is a psychopathic serial killer who augments kidnapping and murder with mortuary skills.

Jake's love of writing came early in life and began with short stories about all kinds of subjects, some of which were published. Today, he is enjoying the freedom to write novels and has three to his name. Letter 26 is an engrossing crime story that just one a Maxy Award for suspense/horror, a contest for self-published authors named for a little girl who died of the rare congenital disease Lissencephaly.

Jake and I talk about writing, inspiration and mental illness in the prison system in this episode of Type. Tune. Tint.

  • Lisa Michaud: Music to Manuscript
    Mar 10 2025

Lisa Michaud, an American expat now living in France, is enjoying the sweet spot where music and writing intersect. She has published her second novel, Somewhere in Hollywood, a semi-autobiographical story of a young woman navigating life and love in Los Angeles. Like her protagonist, Lisa marches to the tunes of many drummers, guitarists and singers with an eclectic taste in music and an insightful writing style. Music may well be in her genes as evidenced by a quirky 1968 album featuring her entire family and pianist Chick Corea before he became one of the most celebrated jazz musicians of our time. Lisa has engaging stories and gives a peek into the creativity that has defined her life. Listen or watch this episode of Type. Tune. Tint.

Jennifer Carr gave up her career as a family and marriage counselor to do something she loved more--writing. She is an author of several romance novels in both Christian and Clean Contemporary categories, a conscious choice based on her desire to create work accessible to wider audiences.
