While his broadcasting career continued a multi-format exercise (CHR, Country, News, Talk, CHR-Rhythmic, Classic Soul, Classic-Hits) as both a Morning Show Host and in Upper Management, his resident and guest club DJ career found J Stan transforming. Beginning in 1983 his genre focus mixed from mainstream pop, country, and oldies to current Dance genres as he leveled his mixing and crowd talents continually upward. Recognition and residencies increased as the tireless J Stan earned a reputation for filling clubs and the underground scene with his mastery of countless diverse styles; Latin Freestyle, Miami Bass, Florida Breaks, Louisiana Bing-Bong, Eurodance, Industrial, Hi-NRG, Hip-Hop, Alternative-Dance and Mainstream. His dance floors continued to fill as did the bank accounts of club owners, bartenders, wait staff, bar-backs, and security staff. "The Saturday Night Live Jam" his weekly live beat-mix show on Jackson, Mississippi 100KW powerhouse CHR-Pop 94TYX aired from 1984 until 1993 and was the first dance program in the Deep South performed 100% live, in-studio, with no pre-recorded sets. The four-hour weekly show was an Arbitron ratings and revenue bonanza for station owner Tab Broadcasting throughout J Stan's tenure. Two weeks after J Stan’s exit as host in August 1991, his impact resounded when the station switched to the syndicated "Hot Mixx" pre-recorded sets, which they continued to brand as “SNLJ”. The enormous popularity of “SNLJ” pumped the talented Mixmaster's offers for residencies and guest appearances higher and higher, resulting in packed dance houses in rooms from St. Louis, to Jackson, Hattiesburg, New Orleans, Pensacola, Birmingham, Houston and virtually everywhere in-between. In 2001 the then 40-year old began to accept only a few select guest DJ appearances as his broadcasting career as a Morning Personality/Show host/Operations Manager for Cumulus Broadcasting, and his new marriage, required his increased focus. His retirement from broadcasting in 2011 and entry into a new IT Support Specialist career gave DJ J Stan the time to focus on a return to his love of club and dance music culture. While working as mentor to up and coming DJs, taking the occasional consultancy gig, and accepting a select few guest DJ offers, he began methodically building an online brand, his fledging studio5781. Recently, that emphasis has been increasingly shifting to the DJ J Stan brand. From 2012 through today, J Stan has found his sweet spot focusing on multiple House sub-genres, Breaks and UK Bass. He recently shuttered his many online channels into two new podcasts, "House Music All Night Long" and "UK BASS (DJ Sets)" Website: djjstan.com Email: djjstan@gmail.com
