Episode 4.

This episode of UNMUTE looks at scene four of the audio drama. Hailey tells Addi about the violence going on at home and Addi promises not to tell anyone. Fraught with anxiety, Addi tells her father, Jay who is quick to dismiss this allegation, creating a rift between him and his daughter.

What would have happened if Addi hadn't promised to keep the violence a secret and encouraged Hailey to talk to an adult? What would have happened if Jay believed Addi right away and reached out to a support line for the next steps? UNMUTE premiered in recognition of domestic violence awareness month in November 2020 as a forum theatre piece that addressed the rise of domestic violence and gender-based assault during COVID-19.

The piece has since been developed into this podcast for listeners to better identify and learn strategies for helping friends and family members experiencing intimate partner violence.
