The warning to the church at Sardis was to be vigilant in their faith and resist complacency. We too need to heed this warning and recognize that we are stewards for Christ's sake. The church at Thyatira was lured away by a group of people, typified by Jezebel of the Old Testament. They appointed themselves as the “oracles of God” and perverted the true message, luring people away from fidelity towards God to something that is offered and acceptable in the world, but not to God.
