  • 235. NEW - Warning Signs and Dating Terms
    Mar 11 2025
We should have created an episode like this a long time ago. We mention warning signs in many of our episodes, but we have not actually listed them so they are easy to find. That is why we created this particular episode. The one question we are asked most frequently is: "How will I know if I'm in an abusive relationship?" That's when the warning signs are most useful to know and ask ourselves. This episode discusses the warning signs I use in my speeches, and they appear on the whendatinghurts.com website. You will recognize examples from everyday life. But how many have you already experienced? Later in this episode, we will also share many of the terms that are used when discussing the dating abuse and domestic violence issue. We expect this WHEN DATING HURTS Podcast episode to be shared throughout the world. It does the most complete job, thus far, in explaining terms and expressions used most often. Be sure to share this with someone you care about. NOTE: If you are a survivor and want to share your story of abuse on the WHEN DATING HURTS Podcast, please email me: BillMitchell@WhenDatingHurts.com The WHEN DATING HURTS book (in paperback, eBook, and audiobook) can be found on Amazon. • 234. Sarah - A Survivor's Update After Leaving Abusive "Exes"
    Mar 4 2025
Today, we are fortunate to have Sarah rejoin us on the WHEN DATING HURTS Podcast. We are seeing a trend, which I like a lot. Survivors we have spoken with previously are returning and giving updates. You see, once a person has left an abusive relationship, some time later they understand more clearly what they had been enduring. For us, having them report back in is quite valuable. Their wisdom is lifesaving. In this episode, Sarah updates a toxic relationship with Johnnie (who popped up with text messages after six years of silence. That relationship is discussed in three previous WHEN DATING HURTS episodes. And for the first time, Sarah also discusses a relationship with another abusive man that was also unhealthy. It ended within the past year. Our thanks to Sarah for unselfishly adding to her story. • 233. Shannon - Pt 2 of 2 - Abused Irish Woman Tells Her Story
    Feb 26 2025
This is part two of a two-part story with Shannon. At the WHEN DATING HURTS podcast, we are fortunate to have loyal listeners from all around the world. We also have survivors who have bravely asked to be interviewed. These survivors have been from Canada, Australia, England, Argentina, Switzerland, and the United States. Today, we add Ireland to our list. We spoke with Shannon who came to us from Dublin, Ireland We thank Shannon for bringing us this story. It holds similarities we have found in most abusive relationships. We see the same kinds of warning signs, traps, and techniques used by abusers. We also see escalation in unhealthy behavior throughout. Good people fall into traps when they are caught unaware... no matter where they call home.
