    What a Creep
    Billionaire Boys Club's Joe Hunt
    Season 28, Episode 8

We’re talking about the Billionaire Boys Club. You might remember it from the 1987 miniseries of the same name, starring Judd Nelson and Ron Silver. You don’t know it from the 2018 movie “Billionaire Boys Club,” starring Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, and Kevin Spacey, because it made $618 million in 11 theaters during its opening weekend.

The Billionaires Boys Club was an investment club started by Joe Hunt. Well, he called it an investment club. It was really a Ponzi scheme that led to the murder of two people. What a creep.

  • Led Zeppelin on the Road: Mud Sharks, Baby Groupies , and Backstage Beatdowns!
    Mar 1 2025
What a Creep Led Zeppelin on TourSeason 28, Episode 7Led Zeppelin is making headlines again with releasing their first official documentary in decades, titled "Becoming Led Zeppelin." The film primarily focuses on the band's music and the early stages of their career as iconic touring legends. One of us is a huge fan (the one leading this episode) and appreciates the band’s remarkable talent while also acknowledging their complicated history, which includes some unsettling stories.Their life on the road has become part of the groupie lore passed down for decades, and there are also stories involving witchcraft and devil worship connected to Jimmy Page. The band officially broke up in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham. They have regrouped in various forms over the years, but the late '60s and '70s Led Zeppelin—with their numerous tales of debauchery—form the basis for most of this episode. Let's Ramble On, y'all!Trigger warnings: SA, sexual harassment, grooming, and host Margo breaking out in song from time to time. Feb 14 2025
What a CreepKendrick Lamar & the Drake FeudSeason 28, Episode 5The 59th annual Super Bowl became the backdrop for the intense feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, one of the most significant rivalries in modern hip-hop. Fueled by long-standing tensions over artistic credibility, lyrical skill, and industry dominance, this conflict has been brewing for over a decade. However, it escalated in 2024 with a series of explosive diss tracks. Kendrick's songs "Euphoria" and "Not Like Us" took direct shots at Drake's authenticity, personal life, and alleged manipulation within the industry. In response, Drake released "Family Matters," which questioned Kendrick’s relationships and his status as a leader in rap. Now that the world knows this beef, let’s explore some of Drake’s more problematic behaviors. What a CreepThe Super Bowl’s Big Wardrobe MalfunctionSeason 28, Episode 4It was the wardrobe malfunction seen around the world. We’re going to talk about the infamous 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show. The entire country lost their collective mind because they got a glimpse of Janet Jackson’s boob for less than a second during what they like to pretend is a family-friendly cultural event. In reality, we’re watching a brutal sport in which men are getting concussions for our entertainment, sandwiched in between commercials for booze and boner pills. Was it a planned stunt? Was it an accident? Does it really matter? Some people just used it as an opportunity to shit on Janet Jackson 24/7, and others used it as an opportunity to get on their soapbox to disingenuously ask, “Won’t someone think of the children.” Sources for this episodeDeadspinLos Angeles Times“The New York Times Presents: Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson”NPRRolling StoneRolling StoneWikipediaNon-Creepy American Football Charities:USA Football.com: USA Football believes in the passion, intensity, joy, confidence, and sense of community football brings to those who play, coach, and love it. • John Harvey Kellogg: Creepy Cereal Advocate
    Jan 24 2025
What a CreepJohn Harvey KelloggSeason 28, Episode 2Kellogg’s Corn Flakes was the boring cereal in my Kellogg’s cereal variety pack, but it’s the one that started them all. And one of the men behind that cereal was John Harvey Kellogg.John Harvey Kellogg championed nutrition and a holistic approach to health. But he was also a eugenicist, which, if you don’t know, is the inaccurate theory that humans can be improved through selective breeding of populations. He also advocated for forced sterilization of anyone he deemed unintelligent or immoral. Oh, and he launched a really messed anti-masturbation campaign that saw the genitals of young boys and girls mutilated.John Harvey Kellogg: What a creep. • John Hughes & His Most Problematic Movies: Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, & More!
    Jan 17 2025
What a CreepSome of the Creepiest Plots to John Hughes FilmsSeason 28, Episode 1John Hughes accomplished the remarkable feat of being a quintessential Baby Boomer while still resonating with Generation X and Millennials through his films. Movies—such as 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Pretty in Pink, and She’s Having a Baby—became essential viewing for generations that felt overlooked by mainstream media. He genuinely seemed like “one of us.”However, when we examine his work through a modern lens, it is difficult to overlook an alarming pattern of racism, homophobia, white privilege, and sexism, as well as some questionable behavior exhibited by the male leads in his films from the 1980s and 1990s. Some of his movies also reveal a rather creepy element when viewed today.Sources for this episode:New Yorker essay by Molly Ringwald, 2018CrackedThe Franklin PostSplice TodayFar Out MagazineThe Daily BeastLooperHollywood ElsewhereRankerVanity FairYouTube Shrink Tank Literate ApeElle AustraliaScreen Rant MediumBustle Trigger warning: Sexual Assault, Grooming, Sexism, Racism, Ableism, and HomophobiaFor our non-creep, check out https://save-la.org/ for ways to help or be helped in the Los Angeles area.
