About this listen

The What if its True Podcast features odd stories from ordinary people like you and me. Each episode will have one or more stories the writers claim are true. You can dismiss them as told by folks with great imaginations. You might even call them liars. Most people do. If you're like me though, there is always that nagging question you ask, but can't get an answer to. That question: What if it's True?

    Bigfoot Stalks American Indian
Growing up in a Native American community, the narrator was taught about Bigfoot as a fundamental part of life, akin to basic safety lessons. This cultural knowledge emphasized coexisting with Bigfoot by avoiding interaction, a practice rooted in an unspoken agreement to mutual non-interference. As a high school senior living in a rural, wooded area, the narrator experienced a chilling encounter one night while walking home. They detected bipedal steps pacing them in the dark, a presence that became more assertive as it deliberately made louder noises. Using a passing vehicle’s headlights as a distraction, the narrator sprinted to escape, only to hear a tree limb snap loudly ahead, signaling Bigfoot’s dominance and control over the territory. The encounter profoundly impacted the narrator, reinforcing the Native perspective of Bigfoot as a powerful, sentient being that communicates through energy and actions, much like humans. The broken limb was a deliberate statement of superiority, reminding the narrator of their vulnerability in Bigfoot’s domain. This experience, described as more intimidating than facing a bear or wolf, underscored the Native understanding of navigating Bigfoot’s territory with respect, akin to passing through a gang-controlled area where one is seen but allowed to pass unharmed by choice. The narrator reflects on this event as a humbling lesson in coexistence, highlighting the creature’s ability to assert its presence without direct confrontation.

  • Grandmother Called in a Bigfoot

    Grandmother Called in a Bigfoot
Many moons ago, on the Glover River in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, my grandparents were at a fishing spot they called the Big Hole. They were busy catfishing when they heard a yell from up the river. For the fun of it, my grandma decided to mimic the sound and yelled right back.
Not long after, they heard a huge splashing from up the river coming toward them, as if a large animal was quickly approaching. As the splashing sound got closer, they started feeling uneasy and decided to pack up and leave.
My grandma went ahead to the truck to start it up so they could get out faster, and heard some leaves rustling in the woods next to her. She rejoined my grandpa to help with the packing, and once they got everything loaded up, they saw a huge shadow in the trees. They didn’t wait around to find out what it was and got out of dodge.
She's told me this story many times throughout my life, and I've always figured it was Bigfoot. But I never paid any mind to what the yell could have been until this weekend, when I visited them, and played the Ohio howl recording.
I had gotten her attention, and she called my grandpa over so he could hear it, too. My grandparents both said it was just like the sound they heard that day they were fishing at the Big Hole.
Little did they know at the time, they had a near encounter with Bigfoot.

I am disabled and spend most of my days alone and Im k with that . I started listening to Cam when he first started out the Dixie Cryptid Podcast on YouTube. I absolutely love his southern accent and his good ole boy, down home ways. His voice is comforting and his genuine caring attitude towards all is heartwarming. I look forward to waking up and grabbing my first cup of coffee in the morning and listening to Cam. It doesn't matter how many times I have already listened to a particular episode , I enjoy it all over again and usually catch something I missed the first or second time . Please keep the stories coming Cam . Sincerely Dena Kinney .
