Each episode tells the story of a different artist and artwork including the traditional big names like Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol along with lesser-known artists working in such diverse media as video game design, dance, the culinary arts, and more. Who Arted is written and produced by an art teacher with the goal of creating a classroom resource that makes art history fun and accessible to everyone.     My guest this week is Patrick Quéré who shared a fascinating insight into the work of Nicolas de Staël. Patrick's great grandparents got to know the artist in the 1940s as he visited their Paris restaurant. Nicolas de Staël gave Patrick's great-grandparents a painting he called The Key. It was a deeply personal piece, a small canvas that had been resized, restretched, cut and patched by the artist and in the layers of heavy impasto, this abstract seascape reveals a tremendous amount about how Nicolas de Staël developed his signature style.
