  • (IN)Fertile Myrtle... What about Merle?
    Apr 26 2024

It is the end of National Infertility Awareness Week and I hope this podcast and episode will help somewhere out there and shed light on infertility for not only the yet mother but the yet father too. Infertility impacts 1 in 6 couples, that means more than just women! So what better way to "celebrate" than to have my best friend and husband, DJ, as my first guest.

It has been a long and hard journey, and it's the one we've been given. So I and we will continue to share our testimony and vulnerability on the topic in hopes it will help even one person out there.

  • Joy in the Mourning
    Mar 30 2024

Infertility isn't easy, it can leave you feeling incomplete and broken. But there is someone who cares and hears you. God does not forsake those who are grieving, instead He offers comfort. He offers to take these burdens from you. If only we would stop gripping onto our experience and our infertility with every ounce of our being. Then maybe we could have softened hearts and sensitive ears to hear Him and to feel His comfort and His tender care for our worries.

For His anger lasts only a moment,

    but His favor, a lifetime.

    Weeping may stay overnight,

but there is joy in the morning.

    -Psalm 30:5

  • U and I for IUI
    Mar 15 2024

If you've heard the term artificial insemination and envisioned some weird lab experiment type process, this episode is for you. Today I break down the different types of artificial insemination and our experience with IUI.

IUI is considered less invasive and is typically a gateway toward IVF after several IUI fails. We have only completed one full IUI cycle and one attempted cycle which we were unable to complete.

Due to a few different health factors going on, we have not pursued IUI again. We are unsure if we will do it again in the future. Definitely something we intend to be prayerful about!

Hopefully you find some additional information on IUI through this episode and my experience puts you to ease if you are intending on pursuing IUI. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

  • A Well-Intentioned Golden Calf
    Mar 1 2024

"An idol is whatever you look at and say, in your heart of hearts, “If I have that, then I’ll feel my life has meaning, then I ‘ll know I have value, then I’ll feel significant and secure.” There are many ways to describe that kind of relationship to something, but perhaps the best one is worship.” —Tim Keller

Idolizing motherhood or the baby you yearn to have can go unrealized for any length of time. I mean let's be honest, in most western faith related spaces it's common to hear the notion that marriage and motherhood is a woman's highest calling. But this neglects a number of us who are not and may never be married or moms to kids of our own. And inadvertently, this can stoke an ongoing internal inferno, in some of us, toward our efforts to have children.

Going even further, the messaging around fertility and motherhood can have you believing you are somehow less important to those already walking in motherhood. I'm here to tell you, your value, worth, and security is in God, not in motherhood or a child.

There is nothing wrong with desiring to be a mom, just be aware of when that desire becomes obsession. You wouldn't want to come as far as you have and realize you've built yourself an alter to which your personal golden calf sits upon.

What is the most confusing, confirming, and misnamed thing I've ever been diagnosed with? Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This lovely little umbrella term to describe a number of hormonal imbalance related symptoms seems to be so wide spread, it would be difficult to find someone who doesn't know a woman with it. So what exactly is it? And how do silly hormones seem to do so much damage and disrupt fertility? Well we'll get into that and more in this episode!

  • The Sting of Bitterness
    Jan 24 2024

Have you found yourself harboring bitterness inside your heart during your fertility journey? Girl we have all been there, some are still unfortunately there too. Everything is always easier said than done and this is absolutely not exempt from that. That being said, addressing your bitterness is so paramount to not only your physical and mental health but for your heart posture too. In my humble opinion I think unprocessed grief and bitterness are so interrelated they develop and feed off each other. To deal with the bitterness in your heart, you need to process your grief in your infertility journey. I promise it won't be easy, but we'll do it together! As we wait for our time to be yet mothers.

  • Our Fertility Story
    Jan 10 2024

In this episode, I discuss my and my husband, DJ's, ongoing fertility journey.

From trying to avoid pregnancy to significant emotional events over a false positive and countless negative pregnancy tests. High school health class never said it would be this hard!

Plus who knew unexplored cycle issues in my teenage years, masked by years of birth control pills, would turn into a PCOS diagnosis in my 30s. Hope you caught my sarcasm there. Luckily in my adulthood I have been able to do the testing and exploration that wasn't done in my youth.

After my husband's hard attack and a failed IUI I finally arrived at the end of myself. I cried out to God and He answered the next day. So the journey continues, but with a completely different heart posture.

I hope you would find solace in not being alone in your journey and maybe hearing my story would encourage you to share yours!
