    Jun 19 2025

Greg is busy dow in Florida pulling together another Resilient show, so Nick & Jay go it alone this episode…

Brian Wilson was a gifted songwriter, musician, singer and producer. His influence is immeasurable. We share some thoughts on the loss of this legend.

Song: Beach Boys - “God Only Knows”

For the past ten years, Jay & Nick have been writing and recording nearly weekly (along with bassist, Kresimir Tokic) with the intent to release a second Sleepers album. The time has finally come. They discuss the process and play some songs from the new record. You can stream it for free or order it on vinyl over at bandcamp (https://sleepersmd.bandcamp.com/album/sleepers-2). It’s also available on Apple Music & Spotify as well.

  • #305 - News with Nick | Jaco’s Word of Mouth | Remembering Rick Derringer & Sly Stone
    Jun 12 2025

Nick picks up where he left off last week with another “News with Nick.” Have a few thousand dollars sitting around and always wanted to own something that belonged to David Lynch? Here’s an auction just for you! TayTay buys back her records, and Eminem is suing Instagram (Meta).

Song: Rival Sons - “Thundering Voices”

In recent years, Greg has developed a deeper appreciation for Word of Mouth, Jaco Pastorius’s second solo album. While the record receives mixed reviews—some hearing signs of the personal struggles with addiction and mental health that would later claim Jaco’s life at just 35—Greg has come to believe there's something really special about it. You should give it a few listens and let us know what you think.

    Songs:

    Jaco Patorius - “Crisis”

Jaco Patorius - “Three Views of a Secret”

    Jaco Patorius - “Liberty City”

Jay remembers Rick Derringer & Sly Stone. Mr. Derringer, who passed at the age of 77, had a decades long career as a guitarist, songwriter, and producer. Stephen Thomas Erlewine said, in Allmusic, “James Brown may have invented funk, but Sly Stone perfected it." Mr. Stone passed last week at the age of 82.

    Songs:

    Steely Dan - “Showbiz Kids”

Sly & The Family Stone - “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) Live”

  • #304 - “Yes, And” | News with Nick | 90’s Summer Music
    Jun 5 2025

As Jay mentions at the top of this episode, we had some significant technical issues this episode and only managed to get the first 30min of the conversation… we’ll be back next week with a full episode.

Jay debuts a new game, “Yes, And.” Jay presents a theme and the contestants each have one minute to name things, back and forth, that fit that theme.

Song: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - “Dragon (Live in Lithuania)”

Nick has some news for us to catch up on, unfortunately we only hear the first half of it. Billy Joel cancels tour due to diagnosis & Emmy winning composer Alf Clausen has died at the age of 84.

    Song: Pipe-Eye - “Chakra”

We’ve reached the magic month of June, and it feels like Summer has arrived. This time of year makes Keith nostalgic for the music released during our formative summers in the early-to-mid 90s.

    Songs:

Primitive Radio Gods - “Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand”

    Baz Lurman - “Everybody’s Free”
