Along the fiery lakes of purgatory, Davyn finds himself searching for escape, until he happens upon a solitary coin that summons the arrival of the Reaper. Refusing to accept his fate, Davyn chooses to dive into the fiery lake in hopes of choosing his own demise, only to find himself awake on the shores of his favorite fishing spot many years later. As Davyn prepares to venture home and reintroduce himself to the living, a terrible tragedy befalls him that intertwines his fate with that of the Reaper's.

Time Weathers didn’t so much mind the car breakdown...just another hassle, albeit at an extremely inconvenient locale. But now reality itself is threatening to do the same, and she’s not quite as adaptable to that. Time was just minding her own business, ambling along on an old road under the blistering Nevada sun, hoping for the kind of road rescue help you aren’t typically going to find in the middle of the desert anyway, when the disconnected phone in the dusty booth outside the dilapidated gas station she was passing began to ring.

Sometimes, they fall is about intrigue, accidental deaths, and outright murder in the circus. Our narrator is Mason, a trapeze artist who is gradually losing his grip, both in his hands and on his mind. As he suffers the loss of those he holds most dear, he struggles with reality and the resurrection of the dead.

As time marched forward in his absence, Davyn awakes in a familiar place, where he is greeted by the Reaper and urged to venture forth. In a search for answers, Davyn makes his way back to the village, only to realize it has been replaced by a small town filled with large wooden buildings and mystery. Within, he encounters the Reaper, old friends, new friends, and a mysterious man named Seraphim. Together, the new acquaintances advance his journey toward understanding the meaning of his own life, and why he was chosen to take the journey of life and death.

One thing a sneak thief needs is ambition, and Sal and Gazel certainly don't come up short there. Sure, they're mainly just ripping off low profile places like out of the way frontier museums...but they have big plans.
