Welcome to the city of Pravitia.

Home to the wicked, depraved, and perverse. Built upon the urges of our deviant desires, and our twisted cravings. Every soul fated to this damned city worships at our altars.

Puppets to our fatalistic whims.

Six bloodlines, devoted to our darkest proclivities, destined to rule the city in our image, and in our name. Six families bound to us in exchange for absolute dominion and glory.

But even gods have favorites, and the time has come to usher in a new epoch.

Mercy Crèvecoeur and Wolfgang Vainglory have always been enemies, fueled by centuries-old family quarrels. Their hatred runs deep and if we didn’t prohibit it; they’d have already attempted to kill one another.

But as much as they want to fight it, even the powerful can’t escape fate.

While they both believe the city of Pravitia is their birthright and will go to great lengths to gain control, their arrogance and thirst for power will lead them directly on the path of our choosing.

To claim their rightful place as rulers of Pravitia, they will need to become a unified team.

But what happens when the lines between hate and obsession begin to blur? And to satiate their lustful desires a divine law must be broken.

Is this dangerous hunger worth each other’s demise?

And when will they realize that they have been our puppets all along?

A Dance Macabre is an enemies to lovers, forbidden romance with a hint of paranormal. It's the first book in the Perverse City series and has a guaranteed HEA. While all books are standalones, the series must be listened to in order. It has mature situations and themes which may be considered triggers for some. Listener discretion is advised.

Review: A Dance Macabre by Naomi Loud
Book 1 in the Perverse City Series
Performed in duet by Raven Rose & Caden Hart

I’ll be honest: I almost didn’t finish this audiobook because I struggled hard with Wolfgang, the MMC. He’s arrogant, self-important, and nearly impossible to like at first. As the embodiment of the God of Ideology, he’s written to be insufferable—and he nails it.

But then… plot twist. Somehow, Naomi Loud made me fall for him. It was emotional whiplash in the best way. One minute I’m frustrated, the next I’m completely charmed. And when he started calling Mercy “my ruin”? That was it. I was hooked.

The chemistry between Wolfgang and Mercy is everything. Once their stories intersected, I was all in. Their banter, tension, and vulnerability made their connection unforgettable. And yes—the spice? Top tier.

As for the narration: Raven Rose is pure magic as Mercy. Her voice drips with danger, elegance, and power. And Caden Hart? He nails Wolfgang’s arrogance and his evolution. The push-pull in their duet performance made it come alive.

If you love enemies-to-lovers with complex characters, great world-building, and sizzling narration—this one’s for you.

A Dance Macabre is the first book in the Perverse City series. This is a very interesting paranormal romance. This is an enemies to lovers tale. Mercy and Wolfgang are part of the six original God bloodlines. They have always been told never to mix said bloodlines. It is time for the new leader to be chosen. Wolfgang was chosen, and before he could complete the ceremony, Mercy stepped in. Now they have been chosen to rule together. For years there has been tension between them, now it is more like sexual tension. Their fate has always been entangled with each other. Now living in the palace and ruling together they can’t fight their attraction and lust for each other. This book does have a HFN ending. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Raven Rose and Caden Hart are both new narrators to me. They both did a phenomenal job narrating this book in duet style narration.

Story - ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Spice - 🌶🌶🌶
Narration - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A Dance Macabre is book #1 in the Perverse City series. This story was so unique that I found myself immersed from beginning to end. If the Hunger Games were held in Sodom and Gomorrah, this story would be the aftermath. The ruling families are based off the seven deadly sins, nothing seems to be off limits (except for mixing bloodlines and killing ruling heirs). Mercy and Wolfgang are bitter enemies but circumstances bring them together to co-rule the city. And when accidents become fatal, they must work together to find the killer. The author takes us on a wild ride of fantasy, steamy scenes, and lots of intrigue, secrets, and betrayal. So good. I can't wait for the stories from the other heirs! They hint at deliciousness...

The narration was really good. Caden Hart and Raven Rose really brought the eccentric, morally gray (okay, maybe black) characters to life. Kudos to Mr. Hart for his outrageously spot-on depiction of Wolfgang Vainglory...how fun that must have been. Loved these two. 5/5 stars!

This series is starting off HOT! 🔥

I can’t say enough good things about this book. Naomi’s writing is beautiful, and the world she created is so cool and dark. I love the magical realism throughout!

It’s SUCH a hot true enemies to lovers trope!! The banter and just spitting insults are so good. I hadn’t heard either voice actor before prior to this book, but they really nailed it, and I’m so glad it’s performed in duet. And that spice…. The forbidden love aspect added so much building tension to it. Everything just was perfect!

When excellent writing meets incredible voice acting… one of my top recs for sure!

Fav read of the year so far!

PLS this book was sooooo good! Idk why I didn’t pick it up sooner!

This was true hate to love. Their hate for each other made everything soo damn hottt. I loved every single thing about this storyline. I honestly didn’t even know what to expect and my mind was blown. This is def reread worthy for sure!

I did the audio and it was well done! Narrators were new to me. While not my fav, if I’m being honest, they still did great with the regal tones of the story.

This audiobook was narrated in duet by Raven Rose and Caden Hart.

Amazing story
