About this listen

Bad Review is a laugh-out-loud comedy written in the style of Tom Sharpe.

When a failing author Harry Sumpter receives several scathing reviews of his latest book From Fighter to Writer, Harry’s week goes from bad to worse. He tries and fails spectacularly to avenge his most critical book reviewer Cuthbert William Smythe. A man Harry hates with a vengeance and also the man who is now bonking Harry’s ex, Belinda. To add salt to his wounds, his estranged wife Penelope blackmails him into attending a weekend party. Where most of her guests have their own very unique sexual preferences. Or just darn right perverts.

The weekend starts with a masked ball, where Harry is forced to parade around in, let’s say, not the most flattering of costumes. Chosen by his vindictive wife. Followed, by an embarrassing clay-pigeon shoot. And finally, dinner with lots of saucy after-dinner dessert. And finally, add Pricilla/Bob, a switch transsexual, who's an individual that can seamlessly switch from Bob to Pricilla - is someone who Harry just can’t shake off, Every since he failed to read the small print on a telephone box escort ad. And a couple of lesbian/bisexual detectives. You have a recipe for a cringingly funny tale.

Warning: This book is not for the faint-hearted. It’s down to earth, and at times, sexually explicit. But if you can get past that, you’ll love Harry’s story.
