I liked the story but the main male character kept switching between having an accent and not. One chapter from book 2 was repeated in book 3 which took the place of an important part/event in book 3.

Very graphic and emotional r@pe scene in book 2. Female narrator did a very realistic job, be warned.

Also, rescue chapter of book 2 is still missing (see other reviews) as of March 2023.

Scarlet is kidnap by Derek and while under his training they learn that their past is tight and this will change their future. It was a dark story with amazing characters, surprises and a happily ever after.

There’s a whole chapter missing from book 2. Instead of telling me how he found her, or how they escaped from the basement dungeon; it just repeats the chapter where he walked her out of Marcos’ place. Overall the story is decent I would’ve liked to hear Derek’s backstory but it being a mystery or only hinted at isn’t the worst thing. The male narrator slipping in and out of a bad accent was horrible though.

Horrible non-consensual sex scenes. Graphic and repeated and the narrator was so realistic. And to make matters worse, book 2 is missing some very important chapters. Wth happened??!!! How did she get out?? I made it thru all of the horrible to not even get the satisfaction of the rescue. From context clues it seems that she may have even saved herself and I MISSED THAT!!??!!
Probably the worst purchase I have ever made. I should have read the reviews beforehand. I am all for dark but this is depraved and there is nothing sexy about rape and non-consensual sodomy!!

This book has been out since 2018 and no one has bothered to fix the chapter that defaults? That is a huge missing piece of this story and basically what the entire second book leads up to! It just completely skipped the entire rescue. So frustrating when you pay $15 a month to hear just one story and it glitches this bad. How did she get out of the basement cell? Who the hell knows, just figure it out on your own as if you even care to now!

I gave the story 5 stars because Nicole did an amazing job making a completely unbelievable run of bad circumstances actually seem plausible. The story grips you almost from the start and has the perfect bad boy hero. Her writing flows so well which makes the scenes interesting and easy to follow. I’m sure whatever chapter we don’t get to hear made the book even better but……

Narration by Jessica Threet was completely believable and her voice was appropriately animated. But I’m not sure what was happening with the male narration as sometimes the main character sounded American then as if he was from India yet he had lived in Mexico since his teens?
