Publisher's summary

One plus-size woman who wants to have a child via artificial insemination because her biological clock is ticking. One reclusive billionaire who is more than willing to give her the kid she wants...the natural way. Two people who might very well discover that what they'd wanted at the beginning of their relationship isn't what they'd really needed at all!

Laura

I have everything I've always wanted. A successful career as a plus-size model, a new business that's flourishing, financial security, and amazing friends who I know will always have my back.

So, everything should be perfect in my world, right? I should be content.

Unfortunately, I'm not. I want to have a child, and my biological clock is ticking away too loudly for my liking. Since every man I'd ever dated was a jerk, I was okay with not having a man in my life. I'd already decided I was better off without one. Problem was, I did need a baby daddy, so my only solution was to find a sperm donor, and I was ready to do exactly that at a fertility clinic...until a very unlikely source, billionaire Mason Lawson offers to knock me up the natural way.

I mean, really? How can a woman who wants to have a child not consider Mason's offer? The man was every woman's fantasy, including mine. I can't even look at him without wanting to tear his clothes off and find out what's underneath that cool, businesslike, billionaire facade.

Honestly though, I just don't understand his motives. Why would he want to have an intimate relationship with a plus-size woman like me? Not that I wouldn't love to dip into his "gene pool", but why in the world does he want to be the father of my child?

I wasn't about to accept his offer. There would be way too many complications, but I'm still intrigued by the man who put that option out there in the first place.

Why did he do it? Somebody like Mason is the man a woman really wants but can never have.

awesome story

This book was really special to me. I could relate to Laura being bigger than most women. It was sweet the way she found someone who loved her just the way she is.

Loved it!

I have enjoyed this entire series and this one did not disappoint. Mason is a broody alpha billionaire who carries too much on his shoulders to enjoy his life. Laura is an independent woman but with insecurities of her own. I adore that this heroine was a tall and curvy woman, a model, and still struggled with common insecurities they most real women have. Their story was a slow burn between two people too unsure of themselves to admit their feelings for each other. The HEA is satisfying and we are introduced to the next billionaire in the series, Hudson. I generally prefer a dual narration but Elizabeth Powers does an amazing job and I didn’t miss having a male counterpart.

Billionaire Unattainable

I have been loving this series and now we have Laura, a plus size model, who wants a baby and plans to use artificial insemination. Mason Lawson, the oldest Lawson, has been intrigued by her for quite some time, and he volunteers as to be the baby daddy, so to speak, but no test tubes required. Oh, there is much more going on here and this is a must read in this series as there is quite the back story and another character to this series to be brought out.

4.5 Stars!

Mason was everything in this story! He was strong, protective, kind, and knew exactly what he wanted even though sometimes he wasn’t the best at communicating that. Laura wants a baby, but she doesn’t date. When she is drunk, she lets it slip to Mason that she’s thinking about artificial insemination. Once learning about this, Mason is determined to not let that happen, even offering to help it happen the natural way.

This was such a positive book, from a woman taking matters into her own hands to get what she wants to positive body image. Laura is a plus sized model but Mason wouldn’t let her get away with body shaming herself and I loved it!

I loved these two so much! Their road to a happily ever after was not an easy one. I loved watching them deal with things that came their way.

I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series and go back and catch up on the previous ones as well!

Long awaited story didn't let me down

I was so anxious for Mason's story. Mason and Laura are true opposites. Laura wants a baby and willing to try artificial procedures. Mason continues a constant phone call relationship with Laura to make sure she doesn't do this. Mason really wants to help her with this problem himself. I could relate with Laura because I am also a plus size and have the same self image struggles. This book is full of romance and smiles :-) I don't want to give everything away!!

Long story short, JS Scott does a wonderful job bringing 2 souls together for their HEA. I had already read the book and loved the story line. I enjoyed listening through audible!!

Mason & Laura’s Story About Facing Insecurities!

Neither The Grumpy Tech Mogul Nor The Chatty Plus Size Supermodel Is Entirely Comfortable With Who They Are, But The Connection They Feel Is A Powerful Motivator. They Both Face A Reality Check And Some Healing Before They Can Move Forward Together.

This is the fourteenth book in The Billionaire’s Obsession series. Each book in the series reads perfectly as a standalone. Books one through five are centered around Tampa, Florida. Book six is a bridge between The Sinclairs series and this series, but it also shifts the series to Colorado. The series continues in Colorado with the Colter family, whose five children comprise books seven through eleven. In books nine and ten, the Colter twins marry the Lawson sisters. After, the series continues on in Seattle with the three Lawson brothers. This is Mason Lawson and Laura Hastings’ story.

The Lawson kids, like their friends the Colters, are well-known for their good looks, genius IQ’s, and billionaire status. Their parents were killed about nine years ago in an accident. That tragedy triggered some changes for the family. While they all inherited enough to be independently wealthy, each was committed to work. None wanted to hold onto the family home in Colorado, finding it too emotional, so they all left Colorado. Harper and Danica, the youngest, traveled extensively for work and didn’t have much of a home to speak of. The brothers, however, took the opportunity to move their father’s up-and-coming business, Lawson Technologies, to Seattle – a more appropriate location for their business – where it shot to success. Each brother heads his own division within the company, but they are partners of the entirety. Harper and Danica have recently married the Colter twins and have settled down in Rocky Springs, Colorado.

Blake Colter and Harper Lawson’s story in Billionaire Unknown, book ten, is a tender and emotional story about second chances in love and life after confusion tears them apart for twelve years.

In Billionaire Unveiled, book eleven, Marcus Colter and Danica Lawson finally find love after years of animosity as they crisscrossed repeatedly overseas.

Jett and Ruby are each lost in self doubt when Danica arranges to have Jett rescue Ruby from a human trafficking ring in book twelve, Billionaire Unloved.

Book thirteen, Billionaire Unchallenged, is Carter Lawson and Brynn Davis’s story. The playboy business genius and the supermodel and fashion entrepreneur find much in common and are ready to settle down in a sweet and angsty slow burn about secrets, trust, and guilt.

In this book:

Note that Laura’s POV is given in one chapter in Carter’s book, giving a sneak peak at this beginnings of this story.

Following the prologue that flashes back to Jett and Ruby’s engagement part from the previous book, this book opens one year later, about nine months following Carter and Brynn’s wedding.

Mason Lawson, going on thirty-six, is nothing if not tenacious, which is a close cousin to stubborn. He makes up his mind and goes with it. He is ruthless in business. The most eligible billionaire bachelor and tech business mogul is a devoted workaholic, making little time for anything outside of the office – to include his own siblings. Granted they had all drifted apart following their parents’ death, but they had recently made efforts to reestablish their familial bonds. Mason isn’t having it, though, because he is too committed to remaining emotionally unavailable. Similar to his brother Carter, Mason has a secret that his siblings are unaware of. He hasn’t been able to fully digest the news himself even after all these years. The timing had been wrong at first, and now the idea of sharing the information feels pointless. He is content to keep it to himself and throw himself into Lawson Technologies instead.

Mason has watched all his siblings recently fall prey to love, something that is not in the cards for him. He hadn’t been with a woman since college, in fact, and that was a secret that he had no intention of sharing. His experience with women had not gone well and now he is so out of practice that he hasn’t the first clue about romance. But there was one woman who had caught his eye that he couldn’t get out of his mind. When his brother Carter first saw Brynn from across the room at a fundraiser, it was Brynn’s best friend Laura that had caught Mason’s eye. And when he found her drunk and alone on the balcony at Jett and Brynn’s engagement party, he was shocked at the earful he got about invitro fertilization and biological clocks. But mostly he didn’t want Laura resorting to getting pregnant by a stranger. If he had anything to say about the matter it would be his baby she would carry.

Laura Hastings, going on thirty-five, is a supermodel and fashion entrepreneur. She moved to Seattle two years ago as her modelling career began to slow down. She had given up on trying to remain the coveted size two years ago when she realized the havoc starvation had on her health. She has done plus size modelling gigs in recent years, and still has a few clients. But she and Brynn had eventually used their supermodel status and social media platforms to promote healthier body images for women. She blogs about her own struggles with self-image – because even models are prone to issues with their self-image. Particularly since she grew into her plus size, Laura has had more than her fair share of nasty messages on social media from those stuck on the notion that models must be thin as rails. It inspired her move to Seattle and the company she founded to promote personal style for women of all sizes. Perfect Harmony has expanded from the original boutique to online and now has several investors that have allowed her to leapfrog in the last twelve months. She has a good team in place and can now focus more so on her designs.

But Laura still feels lonely and unfulfilled. She has never had good luck with men. They all use her for her money or her position and do nothing to help with her negative self-image. It has been a couple years since her last boyfriend and she is convinced there is no Prince Charming for her. She had researched using a sperm donor and had almost decided upon using one until her strange run-in with Mason Lawson one year ago. His warning that it was impersonal and her child deserved a father willing to be around had struck her as true, though she would never admit it. She has been quietly considering her options since then, in part because Mason wouldn’t let her forget their conversation. He called religiously every week since that party to ask if she was pregnant. The brief conversations were odd and yet she had grown to accept them. When Brynn suggests that Mason’s calls stem from his attraction to her, Laura can hardly believe the sought after bachelor would be interested in someone like her. Aside from some awkwardness, he is too dreamy to be true.

When Carter eventually pushes Mason to get a life outside of work, the stubborn man reluctantly gives in and asks Laura to dinner. Despite their awkward beginning, Mason and Laura soon find comfort in one another’s company. But both have a past that makes them hesitant to become vulnerable. Neither have had relationship success. When they take things to the next step, there is no in-between for Mason. He is all-in. But as the couple moves forward, their relationship is tested. Both have personal struggles that threaten to tear them apart. Mason stubbornly wants to protect Laura from the outside world. Although he does have business enemies, not all his instincts are entirely sound and he might just push too far. Laura’s childhood and self-image issues leave her with a fear of rejection. But if she cannot open up and become vulnerable, there is no hope for their relationship to flourish. The couple eventually finds their happy ending.

Billionaire Hudson Montgomery of San Diego enters the story adding yet another complication to the couple’s happiness. His presence forces Mason to finally face some of the secrets that have held him hostage for years. Hudson gets his own story in the next book of the series, Billionaire Undercover.

For those that pay attention to detail, there are some discrepancies with the children’s ages from one book to another. According to earlier books, Danica, now thirty-one, is the youngest in the Lawson family. Her sister Harper is thirty-two. Their three older brothers include Mason, Jett, and Carter (oldest to youngest). Then Jett became the youngest and is thirty-two, which does not add up since his younger sister Harper is already thirty-two. Carter comes next in age at thirty-three, and Mason follows at thirty-five.

Mason and Laura’s story is about facing insecurities. Neither the grumpy tech mogul nor the chatty plus size supermodel is entirely comfortable with who they are, but the connection they feel is a powerful motivator. They both face a reality check and some healing before they can move forward together. Their story is well-written. The plot is fairly somewhat complex. Expect a few surprises. The characters are complex and well-developed given the length. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Mason and Laura. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

As for the Audio: it is very well-performed and consistent with the book.
