Publisher's summary

When he agreed to take the fall for his pack leader's failed attempts to help the Rebellion, Jace knew he wouldn't live long enough to regret it. However, instead of the noble end he envisioned for himself, the werewolf finds himself at the mercy of a witch and his depraved games. How long can he cling to his pride and conviction that he can withstand anything his controlling new master can dish out?

Now that supernatural beings have seized control of the world, life has become a struggle for the humans who once held power. Witches, vampires, and werewolves determine the fate of every single human, but their moral compasses have long since been shattered. Rebels, free humans, and slaves all share dreams of hope, mercy, love, and more. But with their fate so uncertain, survival isn't enough... and they may have to sacrifice what is nearest and dearest to them if they want to change their lives.

Bought, Ravel, and Recoil feature different characters whose lives begin to come together in Owned and Temper. This dystopian series explores different aspects of the world, from utter darkness to the shining lights waiting to emerge. Because of this, the books range from dark erotica to romance to horror to action(ish) to bits of other things in between.

  1. Bought*: Jace & Elias. [Paranormal Dark Erotica.]
  2. Ravel: Ashton & Reese. [Paranormal Romance.]

Fantastic

Listening to one of my favorite books was quite an experience. The narrator managed to captivate me while listening. As a novice to audiobooks, I wasn't so sure how it will go, but I was blown away. Jack captured every aspect of the various accents, especially Elias who is my favorite character in the series (and also British accent.*swoon*)

I loved the story

I enjoyed listening to Bought in audiobook very much. I read the eBook and loved it, but I loved the audio book even more. R. Phoenix did such a great job with world building, and character development. The narrator had a very good take on the story and the voice for Elias was very sexy and confident, I didn't realize while reading this story that Elias spoke with British accent. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys listening to dark romance stories with amazing characters.

I loved it

I loved this audio so much more than I thought I would. I loved the book already. I had my doubts about the audio, but it was everything I could’ve hope for. For reader or listeners who aren’t familiar with the book, it is the first book in a paranormal series, it is dark but it’s also full of love and sacrifices made for the beloved one. Consider reading the warnings before starting the book, if you are ok with it, this is a great book and just as great series.

I have to start saying that I loved the narrator’s sexy voice and his accent as well. It might not been what I expect for this books but I still enjoy it so much. The biggest issue I had with it was the speed but I’ll admit it wasn’t always bothersome, there were occasions when it felt appropriate for the story and in one particular character, Elias, it felt perfect for his calm and compose attitude to speak in such a slow pace. Jace’s portray was so perfect. I could feel the angst and anger in his voice, it was brilliant. I also loved Spencer’s sweet voice. I had a wonderful time listening to the book.

Overall it was a beautiful way to narrate the story. It might not be a book suitable for every reader, but the ones who have choose to give it a try, I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Definitely New

This book has new tropes that I'm not used to... Definitely out of my comfort zone. I'm glad it wasn't that long, I got through it because the narrator did a great job.

brilliant narration *^*

This audiobook was full of angst and I couldn't be happier than this. Elias is a sadistic bastard, and you will end up hating or loving him, there is no escape xD My love for characters like him made sure I ended up wanting to know more about him. Attending to the ways he used to bend to his will Jace was very interesting, even if at the same time I was cheering for Jace, to never give up. I can't wait to keep listening to this series to know what will be next for our protagonists.

Furry tails are the new black!

Well, if you are looking for a swoon-worthy romance, look elsewhere since this definitely isn’t a romance book. But if you are looking for genuinely depraved and terrible protagonists with a wicked and dystopian storyline, well, you are indeed in for a treat. 😁 Since this is very short and the first in the series, we still don’t know that much about the core of world building and it’s characters. Nevertheless, what we got is enjoyable, wicked and oh-so-wrong-but-right delicious! 😱🔥 Elias isn’t antihero. He’s is THE villain, period. The witch is cruel, cunning, manipulative, ambitious and narcissistic, just the qualities you look for in a villain. Lol 😂 Enter Jace, the naive and sexy werewolf who got purchased by our wicked witch as a pet. And so this unhealthy obsession begins.

The storyline is interesting and fresh and I can’t freaking wait to start the second book in the series. The narrator did a somewhat ok but not terrific job. The voice is soothing but he narrated too slow for my liking. Had to bump it up to 1.25x speed to fully enjoy the audio. Overall, it was short, it was sexy and it was fun. Loved it.

Surprisingly different approach

I have read many stories about vampires, werewolves, and witches but this one really breaks the mold. I am truly interested in where they will go from here. Excellent short read and the narrator was on point!
