About this listen

Blake Cabello attends college on a football scholarship. He lives in a frat house and easily up to his reputation as a hot jock, until his father decides to get remarried.

Jamie Rush was a senior in high school and living a quiet life with his mom when she married Blake’s dad. Jamie came out to her and his friends in Oregon years before and his new step-father and step-brother, as masculine as they both are, don’t seem to have a problem with that. That is until Jamie leaves for college and the same fraternity house that his step-brother has lived in for the past year.

Jamie just wants to get an education. He joined the fraternity to please his mother and step-father who had met there years earlier. Blake just wants to keep his reputation intact and do his best to not disappoint his father. Smaller than the rest of them and not the least bit aggressive, Jamie becomes an easy target for the bullies that live in the frat house. If that wasn’t bad enough, the step-brother he has looked up to and even developed a little crush on at home, seems to always be right there in the center of it all, and not on Jamie’s side.

Jamie doesn’t want to dislike Blake, but sometimes it seems that’s exactly what Blake is trying to get him to do. Blake doesn’t really have a problem with Jamie, but he does have a reputation to uphold. As a matter of fact, Blake has a lot of secrets that he’s struggling with, an almost double life that he’s leading and scared to death that someone else is going to discover. For one thing he’s been having dreams about his step-brother. They’re unsettling and confusing. He’s not gay, not even a little bit, so why does Jamie have such an effect on him? Then there’s his involvement in the underground world of fighting. He thinks it’s a good way to release his stress and actually do something just for himself for a change…but has he gotten in too deep?

Straight to gay romance

Blake and Jamie are stepbrothers who attend school together and live in the same frat house. Jamie is a good student who only wants a good education and is in the fraternity to please his stepfather, but is the object of bullying by many of the frat brothers including Blake, who is in school on a football scholarship even though his first love is fighting. He has promised his father to not be involved in fighting but is persuaded by a coach to get involved in an illegal underground fight club. Blake has only dated women, but feels an attraction to Jamie. Just when he begins to acknowledge those feelings and act on them, he agrees to a fight which has potentially disastrous consequences. I enjoyed the book and recommend it. I was given a free audio recording of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Not for me

Ehh, okay so I didn't like how the story was unfinished and that Blake still hadn't come out by the end of it and I didn't realize that this was a series. I guess Blake and Jamie were made for each other and I couldn't understand why Blake's girlfriend stayed with him when she could tell how he felt about Jamie and would try to smooth things out between them. It just wasn't a story for me, not that it was bad just not my kind of thing.

Unfortunately for me I didn't enjoy the narration very much, I heard a lot of paper shuffling and the voice just didn't keep my attention.

I received a copy of this book and an providing an honest review.

Hot and sweet

This was hot and sweet but I would have loved a little more steam and less angst.

Short and sweet.

Frat Brother Turned was about 2 stepbrothers, Blake and Jamie. Jamie was a 20 year old gay college student. Blake was a 21 year old, football player with a girlfriend. both attend NYU and live in the same frat house. Jamie has always been in love with Blake. While Blake always thought of him as straight. The plot was gripping, and even sad at moments, but it definitely held my attention. I love how Richard L. Walton was able to get you to feel the way both Blake and Jamie was feeling. You can hear the emotions from them. There was time that I just wanted to scream at Blake.

Sweet Story with tasteful sex

The story of course was predictable but well written. The characters were genuine and fairly well developed. I would read more by this author. My only fault would be the narrator. I want to give him credit for a nice voice but you can really tell he is reading which of course he was but it would have been, in my opinion, better if it sounded more like smooth dialogue and his voice is much older than the characters should have sounded. This is only my opinion but it is what I expect in my own books when choosing a narrator.

Grating Voice

I could not get through 5 minutes. The narrator's voice was grating and talentless.
