About this listen

A lush, tropical island on an icy planet makes no sense.

Then again, not much makes sense anymore after waking up and finding myself not in bed but on a strange world populated by aliens. Since that moment, I've learned that nothing is normal anymore and I've got to roll with the punches. I can handle this, though. I'm strong and capable.

So...washed up on a tropical island? Got it handled.

Separated from the others in my group? Handled.

Stranded alone with a brutal but delicious alien man that can't speak English but has great...ahem...body language? Yup, handled.

Add in the fact that my cootie - a symbiont I need to survive - has chosen my big, hulking alien friend as my fated mate? Let's just say that the situation isn't the only thing that's going to be handled.

But it isn't long before I learn that the tropical island paradise is a death trap and we're all in grave danger, aliens, and humans alike. To survive this, I'll need my tempting guy to give me a hand with the situation...good thing he's got four of them.

Contains mature themes.

Nice Addition to Series

I was tired of the Ice Planet stories because of the monotony. But this has added a nice new element and set of characters that I really like! Ruby revived the series here. I also enjoy that their’s a little less gratuitous love scenes and more focus on a great story!

Enjoyed the story

I really like Ruby Dixon books and this was no different. I read this book more than once and for me, that is telling! I wasn't too happy with the narration of the book. Personally, I think it would have read better with man doing man voice and woman doing woman voice.
I am happy though to have the audio version and would say a big THANK YOU to Ruby for making that happen!

God I love Ruby Dixon

Im not big on aliens, but I gave it a shot because I love Dixon's writing, and WOW. So glad I did. Her plots are solid, but still romance based, and full of developing characters. I can't believe she sold me on intergalactic space Smurfs, BUT HERE WE ARE, LOL.

Pretty good

Overall, it was a good story but the beginning as a little draggy. Still enjoyed the book nevertheless

Repeative

I enjoyed the story a lot. However the characters repeated themselves to many times and it was exhausting!

awesome as usual for Ms. Dixon and her blue dudes

What made the experience of listening to Lauren's Barbarian: A SciFi Alien Romance the most enjoyable?

she writes out of the box, adds in new characters along the way instead of repeatedly recycling the old ones.

Who was your favorite character and why?

the little baby

Have you listened to any of Felicity Munroe and Sean Crisden ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes, they both have wonderful voices and add in a lot of "visual" character and good humor to thier voices

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, some laughing

Any additional comments?

I really like this series, I wish there were a hundred more books. The combo of the voices and the story are really great

A fun romance.

LAUREN’S BARBARIAN is my first novel by Ruby Dixon and I liked it from the start to end. It’s the first novel in a series so a little time was spent in the beginning setting up the world. It was interesting and funny so I didn’t find it too long.

Both the heroine (and other abductees) and the hero (and his race) are likeable and I enjoyed seeing how their characters developed with the added difficulty of a language barrier. Hearing the wonderful Sean Crisden narrate as the hero who at first completely misinterpreted the heroine’s actions was a total hoot that had me doubled over, laughing. At the same time, the story evolved into one of survival, trust and ultimately, love. I thought it was well done, and look forward to more stories in the series.

It was my first time hearing narrator Felicity Munroe and I appreciated her characterisations. She and Sean Crisden together created a pleasurable listening experience.
