Publisher's summary

Raine Baumer is living the party life in Chicago, indulging in short relationships with little emotional commitment. But after he’s severely injured in a gay bashing, close friend Geoff arrives to take him to the country to recuperate. There, Geoff and his partner, Eli, treat him like part of the family, and Raine meets Jonah, Eli’s brother, who is exploring life in the world outside his Amish community.

Jonah and Raine’s mutual attraction draws them together, but they may not have a chance to explore it. Jonah’s father is making ultimatums, and the police believe that the attack on Raine may not have been as random as it initially appeared. Raine and Jonah will have to face what they fear most in order to have any chance at a life together.

Love Means....A Great Listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommend all of the Love Means.....books by Andrew Gray

Have you listened to any of Sean Crisden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Sean Crisden narrates with great feeling in his voice.

Any additional comments?

I have all of the Love Means...books. Both in print and in audio format.
Perhaps the Laughton Farms scenarios are a bit too idealistic, but they
are so uplifting and entertaining that the reader/listener is transported
to this wonderful place, if only for a few hours.

Sweet

I was cheering for Jonah's and Raine's relationship.

They come from completely different worlds and a happy ending seemed remote.... the development of their relationship and personal battles is engaging.

Another great instalment to the series.

Andrew Grey

If you could sum up Love Means No Fear in three words, what would they be?

Good love story

What did you like best about this story?

Jonah and Randy's interaction and banter

What does Sean Crisden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have many books that Sean Crisden has narrated and will sometimes base my decision on whether to buy the book or not because of the narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Not a clue

What's the age difference here?

I'm a little confused by this one. I got the impression that Raine was at least as old as Geoff, if not slightly older. Eli is Jonah's older brother (at least one or two more siblings in between them). So, what's the age difference between Raine and Jonah. I didn't get the impression that this was dealt with at all in this story. How does Raine feel about the age difference? He talks about the differences in their experience and is concerned that Jonah has none, but their ages never enter into the discussion. I would have assumed that it would have. I would assume their nearly 10 years apart at least given Raine's work history if nothing else. This is verging on a generational difference. I would think this would have been discussed.

Otherwise, this was a touching story about communication and expectations.

Standing Up For Yourself

It is time for Geoff's friend Raine to get his story. And it is involves Eli's brother Jonah. I loved much of this story. The fact that Jonah is working at figuring out for himself what he wants. Raine having to re-evaluate his own life for different reasons. I really love how much Jonah grew in this story from being shocked about his brother's life to being a strong man who knows his own mind. Raine I felt didn't really grow as much because in the end his life remained large unchanged. I get the feeling that as time goes on we will hear more from these two or at least I hope so because I think there is more in their life that needs to be settled.

Another Andrew Grey/Sean Crisden Great

What made the experience of listening to Love Means No Fear the most enjoyable?

As usual, listening to Sean Crisden. He doesn't make the story, just makes it better!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I have no favorite. All the characters are so interesting I wished I knew "real" people like them.

Which character – as performed by Sean Crisden – was your favorite?

Geoff

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, the whole book was very moving. Whenever I read something (or listen to) a book by Andrew Grey I feel the whole spectrum of the emotions. Having Sean Crisden narrate just makes it a deeper reaction.
