About this listen

Determined to remove herself from the rules and regulations of her overbearing religious parents, Avery escapes to college and is determined to make it on her own. Working as a bartender, and mere weeks before her college graduation, she finds herself face-to-face with 30 members of an outlaw motorcycle club.

She had no idea when the president of the club walked in she'd go weak in the knees for the gorgeous tattooed biker.

Axton (aka Slice) is the president of the Selected Sinners MC. At the onset of a huge gun deal with a notorious prison gang, he has no time or desire to have a woman in his life. Abused by his Hells Angel father as a child, and wronged by every woman in his past, Axton has one devotion - the MC.

After finding out he needs Avery's criminal justice education and her linguistic skills to assist in making the gun deal a success, Axton reluctantly approaches her to act as his interpreter.

Hoping to win Axton over, Avery attempts to turn off her smart mouth, turn on her charm, and become his woman of interest, even if it means sacrificing a level of independence she's grown accustomed to.

But when the gun deal goes to hell in a handbasket, both Avery and Axton are left wondering what their next move may be.

Baffled

What the heck happened to Avery? The likable strong but insecure(which doesn't bother me, honestly most people are, it's kind of realistic) character went M.I.A. halfway through the book. She lost her firecracker personality which made the book kind of boring after she started spending time with Axton. I question her loyalty by how she chose to deal with her roommate/friend. Axton wasn't very impressive as the hero either. The only thing that made the book good was that Axton actually built a relationship with Avery not just going with urges. As I'm writing this review I think I understand how Scott Hildreth might have felt because my thoughts on this book keep going all over the place making incomplete points. This is my first book by Scott Hildreth it doesn't seem to bode well for how he feels about one women. This is what I noted: 1. Slutty girls deserve to be raped 2. There was a lot of body shaming 3.Girl are catty and unloyal once a guy comes into the picture 4. The best way to get your man is to become the women he wants you to be 5.The women seemed pretty slutty and unsafe. There were lots more things that are concerning about how the characters are portrayed. This book as a standalone seems to have a lot of missing pieces.

Not written for a women

If you like being called a bitch, or just talking down to then this book is for you. I’m all for equality but you can tell this book was written by a man.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Axton is the head of the MC and when he walks into the bar where Avery was working she with smitten immediately. Unfortunately for Avery, Axton has absolutely no desire to ever have an old lady enter his life.

During a gun deal where Avery went along to be an interpreter, a huge problem arises causing Avery to have to act or likely lose lose Axton, so she does. After this event Axton sees Avery a little differently and slowly he begins to acknowledge his feelings for the beauty.

Avery always has had troubles with her perception of what she looks like two men do to her body shape, but through the time spent with Axton she starts to see herself with value. The couple begin their relationship on very shaky ground yet they end up making progress.

This is a story that is worth your time reading or listening to it on Audible because it is so intriguing and has a really unique story to tell. I highly recommend this book for your pleasure. I truly believe you'll love it. The writing is superb and the narration is excellent on top of a great story it's a must have

I was unsure what to expect but, LOVED IT!

I preordered this book because I thought the summary sounded interesting and I love my alpha male biker books. If you're looking for a book with a lot of steamy sex scenes in it then this book isn't for you but if you want a relationship building experience with an alpha who doesn't like women and a girl who grew up in a small town and has a sharp tongue this is it. The main male character who is the president of the MC isn't your typical MC president. He has quirks and idiosyncrasies that sets him apart from your typical alpha male. I loved the book and i had never heard the narrators before but they were surprisingly really good. I'm always hesitant to buy a book with narrators I've never heard before but it paid off in the end. I listened to the whole book straight through because I couldn't turn it off.

good but male voice sucks

I loved the story line of this book. it was different than most and made me laugh and smile throughout. the female did a great job. the only thing I really hated about this book was the males voice. he had a great deep voice but seemed like he was trying too hard to sound like what he thought a badass biker sounded like and his performance just ended up being laughable. I finished this book ONLY because of the story line and I wanted to see what happened. his voice was irritating throughout

way better than ppl said.

I thought the voice actors were way better then ppl said. the friendenemy relationship. the two girls have is weird but a little understandable. if you don't get it, its because you have never been there. i love how Slice is always flexing his muscles... i do wish that after the first incident happened, that it would have been explored a little between the two main characters. otherwise, it us a good introduction to the series.

Okay...

Probably better off as fanfic and not nearly as good. Nothing useful about this story line or "character development".

Hm...

The narrators were amazing, but honestly...I’m not 100% sure of how I feel about this book. I seriously didn’t like the main “hero”, Avery and her bff seemed to have a shallow mean girl kind of friendship, and Avery never liked the way she looked till what’s his name came along and then she felt that she was beautiful because of him. I mean—ok I know how I feel now.

Didn’t like the book. Would have been better if not done as a romance, and Avery didn’t put so much emphasis on a man’s opinion of herself. And doing whatever she could to please him just because he was a “challenge”. Ugh

so short

I feel like this book was a lot shorter and most of the audio books that I listen to so I kind of felt like the story was missing a little bit
