About this listen

For journalist Dylan Alexander, it began with the discovery of a hidden tomb, thrusting her into the center of a gathering storm of violence and secrets. But nothing is as dangerous as the scarred, lethally seductive man who rises from the shadows to draw her into his world of dark desire and endless night.

Fueled by pain and rage over a shattering betrayal, the warrior Rio has pledged his life to the war against the Rogues. He will let nothing stand in his way - least of all a mortal woman with the power to expose the entire vampire race. For an ancient evil has been awakened, and a stunning darkness is on the rise. Suddenly, Dylan is powerless to resist Rio's touch, even as she uncovers a shocking link to her own past. And now she must choose: Leave Rio's midnight realm, or risk it all for the man who has shown her true passion and the infinite pleasures of the heart.

Intriguing series but a bit redundant and...

The series is definitely a fantasy series with the males as gruff, angry, physically tough and mentally defeated, self-destructive warriors! The males in this series do everything they can to live miserable lives but the females won't allow it. The bad guys are terrible and horrible to women and the heroes treat women with reverence and respect. This is the baseline for all of the stories and, it is entertaining. The stories could easily be 2 hours shorter without the constant repetitive woe with me but that is what the skip forward 20 seconds button is for... ;)

Where the stories go off the rails is when the males can tell what a benign scent the women have! It would be the same as pointing to a wall that is a shade of blue... to a guy, it is blue... period.

Is the series worth reading? Yes... If you like this genre, it is worth your time!

Love the voices of these characters.

Love the sexy accented voice of Rio that the narrator gave this character.
As this series progresses, book by book, we're feed bits of the mystery.
This one brings several pieces together.

Finally :)

I started listing to this series and got so impatient to listen to Rio’s story that I bought the book. I Loved it. So much so that even though I had already read it I just had to have it on audio. It’s a great series I highly recommend.

A Good Rising

This was book 4 in the "Midnight Breed" series. When journalist Dylan Alexander comes across a hidden tomb while on a trip in South America she comes across the breed warrior Rio. Rio has been through a lot in the last year he was betrayed by his mate Ava he was injured in a blast in the last book. Rio doesn't want to live with the bruises on his face and body he wants to die and planned to seal the cave and lock himself in it. When Dylan takes pictures of him in the cave he knows he has to stop her. Dylan has a secret she can see and hear the dead and was lured to the cave to help him she is also a breed mate. This was a really good book Dylan needs a story for her job and when Rio shows up after he feeds and hunts her down in Spain he tells her that he has to take her pictures and the ones that she sent to her family and friends. When she shows him her birth mark he tells her what he is and what she is she doesn't believe him. When they go back to the states they go to the compound where the brothers thought he was dead and they know that he wanted to die. I really liked both of these characters Dylan wasn't a push over but she sees something in Rio and when she decides to leave because her mother is sick she runs away and Rio tracks her to the hospital where he finds out about her mother. When these two have sex it is hot and he feeds from her and bond with her. I really liked this book and the narrator of this audiobook when things get hard Dylan and Rio both prove to each other that they will be there. This was a good read that was well written with no errors in grammar and since I do have the book spelling either. I am looking forward to reading or listening to the next book.

Lara Adrian

I loved the entire series! I cannot wait for Chase's book to come next! The narrator is so good with changing her voice to accommodate each character. I just love it. I hope the next book comes out soon!

A little Scattered for me

I did enjoy this book; however, I felt it was a bit slower than it needed to be. It seemed drawn out to me and somewhat off plot from time to time. There were areas that I felt could have been better explained.
I was very pleased that by half way through the book that Dylan quit asking one question after the other (reminded me of when my children were toddlers). Made me a bit irritated.
Dylan and Rio are both good characters as the book develops so does their love for one another.
I would recommend this book and besides wanting to know more about Dylan's Mom and how she became a Breed Mate. I didn't understand how it happened.

Love overcomes betrayal

Another great story in the Midnight Breed series. Following on the heels of betrayal by his breedmate, and seeking to end it all, Rio finds his salvation in Dylan . He is helped unknowingly by his dead mate who seeks his forgiveness for her betrayal.
