Publisher's summary

Lana Rodriguez grew up along Hawaii's crystal blue shores, but for her, the picture-perfect paradise disguises the bitter truths she escaped years ago, and not without emotional scars. Now a successful blues singer, Lana's returning to Waikiki to control her own destiny when it comes to men, romance, and sex. This time, it's on her terms.

Jason Koa is every woman's dream. While Lana would like to keep her distance, the passion is just too hot to ignore, even if Jason does make all the rules - on the island and in the bedroom. But his attempts to break Lana's shell reveal secrets neither is prepared to face. And it's about to sweep them away in a tidal wave of danger and desire.

**spoiler alert** description is misleading

The performance was very good for the book. I believe that Chandra Skyye was the only reason I could get as far into this book as I have.
When reading the book description, I felt that this book would have some action and suspense. Unfortunately it has just been a long book about a closed off woman that is too weak to deal with a dead alcoholic father. I was very disappointed in the lack of development in both main characters, and had I not purchased this book back in 2014 then I wouldn’t have waisted my time or money on this book. If you want to listen to a book with very little depth, and far too many dull sex scenes, then this is the book for you.

Jason's Rules for Hurting & Humiliating Women

Unfortunately neither blues singer Lana or Hawaiian businessman Jason were very interesting, likable or engaging characters.

For some bizarre reason which was never divulged, cold-hearted Jason did not like or respect women who are not members of his extended family. In fact, Jason only enjoyed sex when he was hurting and humiliating his unlucky partner.

Likewise, for some unhealthy reason, Lana stupidly allowed this violent, sadistic stranger to beat and brutalize her body. I kept expecting Jason to murder her without remorse, dump her bruised body into the ocean and move on to his next victim.

Since the sex scenes were cold and ugly, the characters were either too stupid to live or too evil to live free, the plot was basically non existent. Not erotic, not romantic, not entertaining, just a depressing, pathetic attempt to romanticize domestic abuse.
