About this listen

Evie Bell is the white sheep in a family of black ones. Bookish and quiet where her sisters are showy and brash, she doesn't understand her darker needs that resulted in the catastrophic end to her last relationship.

Frederic d'Estang, a stage performer with Byronic dark good looks, is famous for playing villains that women adore - the Phantom, Claude Frollo, Mr. Hyde. Facing a distressing premature end to his career due to developing Reinke's edema, a chronic voice disorder, he recalls how someone took a chance on him when he was just starting out, which launched him into stardom, and desires to do the same before his power and influence wane.

His agent wants him to write his memoirs, and when he meets Evie Bell, an autobiographical writer with a penchant for gothic anti-heroes, he sees his chance: she has talent, but lacks the confidence and experience to make something of herself. She also has interesting, unexplored tastes, which Frederic discovers when her sister gives him a link to her anonymous fan-fiction archive - much to Evie's mortification.

Great Erotic romance on a less popular BDSM dynamic

I picked up this one and was a little bored at first but boy did it pick up! At first I wasn’t sure I loved his accent as he wasn’t French but Québécois but after a while I got used to his accent and started loving how the narrators portrayed him.

It is a dd/lg romance but it’s a really good one that is more erotic romance than it is erotica. There’s actually a story in this one and I actually liked that the heroine was British since usually when a hero is foreign, the heroine is American. And if you’re British, you won’t see her as foreign but as an American reader it was cool to reader two people with accents in an audiobook!

The scenes are super spicy and fit the ddlg realm without being distasteful. I hate sadists in Erotic romance but Frederic made it sound so sexy! I can’t believe I’m even saying that.😭 This book is definitely a sleeper hit for me. I wish the author had more audiobooks but I’m open to reading her ebooks if they’re as good as this one was!

Brilliant

Brianna has delivered a beautifully written erotic romance. It is wonderfully romantic without losing its edge. Neither the romanticism nor the eroticism outshine the other; they complement each other naturally. I believe it’s this balance that sets apart the truly exceptional erotic romances, and this story is a perfect example of that balance.
The narration is outstanding. The book’s prose is elegant, delicious, and at times base, which the narrators translate perfectly. A great production. Five stars all around.

Beautiful and Emotional

I already read the ebook but I needed to listen to Frederic d'Estang's voice and accent even though I've never been into audiobooks. I wasn’t disappointed and I definitely became a fan of audiobooks after this one! I noticed it gave the story even more emotion and added more life to these characters.

Soft Limits is beautiful and dark in all the best ways. It's pleasure mixed with violence and could be uncomfortable for some. It's not for the faint of hearts. I reread this book several times since it came out and I'm so in love with everything that Hale creates.
