Publisher's summary

After overhearing two crooked Chicago cops plotting against her, Avery Pierce goes on the run, not knowing who she can trust. When her low finances force her to take a job as a sex phone operator, she struggles, so when a caller senses her desperation and inexperience and offers assistance, she’s tempted to agree.

As soon as Sheriff Grayson Monroe meets the new waitress at his favorite diner, something about her strikes a familiar chord. When he sees her enter The Barn, his lifestyle club, the desire to get to the bottom of her evasive eyes and answers to his probing questions takes hold. He’s determined to find out who she really is and what is troubling her.

After an icy mishap, Master Grayson has finally run out of patience. One way or another, Avery will tell him the truth. But is it too late? Has danger already found her? Can Grayson come to her rescue or will she lose everything she has just gained?

Amazing

This book was just as suspenseful and hit as the first one and I could not turn it off!

Loved it

Another interesting tale by BJ Wane, plus it was kind of funny, I think this one had the most cliche undercover job someone might have if they were on the run in this situation. I don’t know, you definitely don’t want a lot of people to see you, and I can imagine the questionable jobs a person could run into. 😂😂I’ve definitely dialed a sex operator by accident, never stayed on the phone with them, but I can find the accidental dial relatable.

Sheriff Grayson, another hot dominant will bite the dust, in this one. He’s handsome, mysterious, inquisitive, observant, and he hates to see anyone in trouble. Especially as he considers himself the caretaker for the people of Willow Springs. The heroine Avery is shy, nerdy, smart, beautiful in a pure and innocent sense. Their chemistry is great but more important, he can’t shake the feeling he’s met her before. You have to read or listen for the rest of their amazing story….

Narration is great with Natalie Bradshaw, who btw does change up the voices between the women and men somewhat. That’s why I say she does a really decent job.

I loved it!!
This is the second audiobook that I have listened to and I loved it.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

It was an enjoyable book and I quite enjoyed the give and take between Grayson and Avery. Also between the Dunbar brothers and their submissive.

I recommend this book to all.

Disappointing

I wish I would have read this story instead of the Audible version. I think I would have liked it. The narration was so distracting that it ruined what might have been a good story. It was my first in this series and I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I won’t be listening to any more.

Good story

Although I enjoyed the story, one thing that has driven me nuts is that Montana people do not have a southern accent. Also, if you are going to write about Montana you need to research the state. The Capital of Montana is Helena not Billings.

Same exact story as the last book

The author of this story, who I still assume is an alien who's only reference for life on earth is day time soap operas, has managed to write the exact same story twice. An idiotic woman is the victim of a crime and, instead of doing anything productive, she runs away and hide out in this town full of Dom/Cowboys. Enter one of these Domboys, and he proceeds to spend the entire story using sex and BDSM to try to get the woman to spill her secret. As soon as she does, the man solves all of her problems for her. The idiot woman is told she's an idiot and then she is free to become the Domboys wifey. I assume that this is how the entire series is going to go, because the only time this story deviated from the first is when it grinds to a halt to introduce some character or situation to the story that is utterly pointless except as seeds for future Domboy stories. For example, the entire poacher storyline in this book seems to be set up for the next story which will focus on the guy who got shot at the end, the one who is conspicuously gloomy over a bad breakup the entire story. Reading the synopsis for the next book, it seems to have the same plot of Domboy sexually torturing a dark secret out of the idiot woman.
The Domboys are huge assholes. For example, when the protag is chased by dirty cops and is driven off the road in the middle of a snow storm, the Sheriff finds her bleeding in the snow and the very first thing he says is that he is going to "tan her hide" for putting herself in danger. Any time he has an emotion, he expresses it as a desire to inflict violence. Lovely guy.
Once more, this story gave us plenty of laughs. This author continues to write female nipples like they are tiny penises, getting hard when anybody even looks the protag's way. Sex scenes end abruptly and the story doesn't even pause for a breath before it jumps to the middle of the next day. These characters literally do nothing but go between their jobs and their BDSM club, never anywhere else. Always the same stupid club. Because every single man in town is a Domboy, apparently. And every woman is a sub. Just the way Jesus intended I guess.

Disappointing.

The description of the story was better than the story itself. I did not enjoy this book or the others in the series. Sigh.
