He's utterly alone...Tortured and existing in a dark spiral of despair, best-selling British author Gavin Cooke has come to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to escape the seedy lifestyle he had been living in London and in a desperate attempt to regain his writing focus. He's twisted, bitter, and angry at the world. He's a loner...needing not a single thing other than his Scotch and a laptop upon which he can bang out his next erotic, dark thriller.
She's running in place and getting nowhere...Savannah Shepherd's life is falling apart. Her dream of being a wildlife photographer seems a distant memory, and she's barely able to make ends meet. Driving herself forward with no clear goals apparent, she's about ready to pack up her bags and head home with her tail between her legs.
Two unlikely lovers...He's raw, forceful, and a dirty talker. She's a flowers-and-romance type of girl. Yet within each other, they find a mutual craving that can only be satisfied by giving in to their desires for one another.
Lust turns into something more...something they were not looking for, but tentatively accept. Will it be enough to push them past the obstacles of Gavin's bitter past?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes.I liked Gavin as a character and what I liked more was Savannah.
Savannah stood her ground with Gavin. I love strong female characters who dont just fall for the dirty talk.
And Gavin delivers on the dirty talk. but a book needs to have depth, and Sugar on the Edge
had that. I liked going on the journey with Gavin and Savannah to find strength, peace, confidence and believe in the love they have and a brighter future.
Which character – as performed by Douglas Berger and Bunny Warren – was your favorite?
Both Gavin and Savannah were well narrated and their personalities came across in the audiobook.Do you think Sugar on the Edge needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No.The book might end with an HEA, but we all know there will be challenges Gavin and Savannah will have to face together. I dont need to follow them while they deal with each new issue that rises. That is called life.
I know they will make it, because the book ends with them in a good place were they love, respect and support each other.

******SPOILERS - SPOILERS - SPOILERS******
I just couldn't get over the way Gavin left (even taking into consideration his inner demons), and couldn't go back to liking him and seeing the main characters as a couple.
Gavin has demons that he tries to beat into submission by drinking, doing drugs, and being a complete pervert. We later find out why, and it is indeed a tragedy. However, that doesn't give him carte blanche to treat all people the way he does.
He leaves England for North Carolina to try to work on his writing and meet his Publisher's deadline. He believes the change of scenery will help.
He meets shy Savannah, and he tries to "break" her. He is not only into self destruct mode, but he wants to destroy women in general. In the midst of all this, Gavin and Savannah find themselves liking each other. They share their demons and they start falling for each other and blah, blah, blah...
Stuff hits the fan, and Gavin runs back to England leaving Savannah in North Carolina without even looking back cutting her off completely from his life. He comes back months later not even to try to fix things, but for a book signing in New York. He is not the one who comes back to fix what he broke. He is not the one who seeks contact after the horrible way he treated Savannah.
Maybe if he would have come back sooner, and groveling after what he did, I would have gotten over his dastardly, cowardly behavior, but it was Savannah the one who went to New York looking for him - even if she ran afterwards.
Only after she runs from him is that he decides to contact her, and goes back to North Carolina when she doesn't reply to his attempts to communicate.
I just couldn't like Gavin again after all he did and said, and after he took so long to do something about it, and I am not even sure he would have done anything about it if Savannah hadn't gone looking for him to begin with.
I couldn't get past the "insta-forgiveness" from the heroine which almost made me want to puke.
By the end, to me, the hero is an irredeemable ass, and the heroine a doormat. So nope, this story is not for me.
SORRY BUT SOME THINGS ARE UNFORGIVABLE!
