About this listen

My peers think I'm a tramp.

The District believes I'm the flawless youngest daughter of a tycoon.

Neither is true. And I'm about to have my world, my house, my rose-coloured glasses, and all, stripped from beneath my Jimmy Choo heels.

With one flickering light at the end of the tunnel.

Xander Butcher.

The city's boxing legend is a hot mess. He's the youngest son of a champion boxer, with huge gloves to fill and a dark legacy to abide by.

At the perfect moment, we collide.

We're dirty, we're raw, and our souls mend before we catch our breath.

But some of the broken pieces of Xander will never heal, not with time, not with help, and I'm holding on as he falls, clutching even after my hands are empty.

Author notes: Their Broken Legend is part of The Kids of The District series but can be listened to without the previous books, although it follows a greater narrative. It has a happily ever after. No cheating. No other-woman-drama. It has violence, steam, gore, angst, and romance. Enjoy.

Devastating...

This is the 6th and highly anticipated final book in the Kids of the district series. It tells the story of the youngest brother in the Butcher family. I am a huge fan of the Kids of the district series however I did put off starting this book for a year and a half. I just had a feeling it would be a tough read and in my opinion it is. But in the best way...

This book is raw and real and devastating in the way it reveals the truths about the youngest Butcher brother. The complex ways in which the author shows us the full stories we have seen glimpses of through the other brother's stories and the devastating tolls they took on Xander is heartbreaking. With each page turned another raw and tragic detail is unveiled showing more and more of who Xander truly is and how well he hid the horrors that haunt his past and are still going on in his mind. The emotion bleeds off the pages and makes you feel for Xander and ache to fix his troubles. While Kaya has her own issues to battle, they are not as deep and more self-imposed. A huge part of this story is watching her develop as a person who learns to care for another and love whole heartedly setting aside herself to focus on another.

While the other books in the series offer some lighthearted moments and maybe some banter, I felt the overall tone of this book is very heavy and serious and deals with some serious mental health issues that are handled with wonderful tact and grace. While the book is a standalone, I feel the true appreciation of this story can't be felt without first reading the other books. You need those glimpses of Xander and his relationships with others before you dive into his head to really understand the magnitude of what you learn about him in this book.

The editing and grammar are near perfection and there is nothing on page or perceived to distract from the readers ability to absorb into the plot of the book or the flow of the story line and follow it through with effortless ease. This is the kind of book you read with your whole heart and entire soul and ache when you out it down because while it does have and HEA it is a conditional one and a hard earned one that is worked for.

This is the kind of book that stays with you always...

This book is also available in audio with an outstanding full cast who pours their best work into bringing it to life with some of the best emotional performances I've heard.

Great Series!

I’ve been waiting to hear Xander’s story. The narrators were amazing! I’ve enjoyed all the “Butcher Boys” stories. This one didn’t disappoint! All of Nicci Harris’s book have such great stories without not too much inter-dialog or angst! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

HOLY SMOKES

Nicci Harris knows how to end a series with a bang! This book had everything you could want out of a spicy book - a great plot, 6'4" MMC, sassy FMC, and so much passion, intensity and spice!

This was an audiobook masterpiece! Sofia Lette's had me in tears, the emotion she put into her performance was palpable. This was my first time listening to Dorje Swallow, and wow! I don't think they could've cast a better Xander, the intensity that he bought to his performance was incredible!
If you are looking for an amazing full-cast audiobook, this one is definitely worth your credit!
