About this listen

Olivia

Dear future ex-husband, I loathe you.

Malakai Farrow needed a wife, and I would have done anything to save the last piece of my family.

Now I'm here, in his house, seeing firsthand how dangerous this man is. He's merciless, brutal, and cold. And my new husband.

He tossed my life into the air and then watched it fall and shatter. So now, I'm going to make his life hell. Playing with fire has never been this much fun.

And if I get burned in the process?

Well, I'll be sure to take him down with me.

Malakai

Dear wife, your claws are out early today. I like it.

Olivia Lauder is the ticket to keeping my throne. In this organization, there are rules every leader must follow, and taking a wife is one of them.

It's only supposed to be a business transaction, a signed contract to satisfy old traditions. That was until she stormed into my house like a little hellcat, and I simply couldn't resist.

Playing with Olivia is just too much fun when the rest of my life is so organized. But then the games start to feel a little too real., and with every day that passes, she climbs further beneath my skin.

Olivia and I were only ever meant to be on paper, but now that I have her, I'm finding I want her in every way possible.

Even if that means we both go up in flames.

Playing with Fire is a dark arranged marriage romance. The MMC is a walking red flag. For mature listeners.

Great performance

Love these narrators so much! Both were so good! They add so much personality to these characters.

Loved the captivating storyline and Olivia and Kai‘s chemistry!!

When I first saw my recommendations giving me this title, I wanted to read it right away. Once I started reading, I could not put down the book, I absolutely love the captivating storyline and Olivia and Malachi‘s chemistry. Cannot wait for the release of book 2…

Don’t waste your credit or time

I’m sorry but this is awful. The main heroine is childish and petty and whines nonstop. He’s a pushover. This was beyond disappointing. There have been plenty of times where I have finished reading a book just to say I did, but I couldn’t even handle listening to this one any longer than I already did. I never write reviews but this is terrible.

DNF - SADLY NOT FOR ME

I love a good forced, bargained for, arranged marriage - so I was really looking forward to this. However (and sadly), my hopes slowly sank after each and every chapter. Olivia, the heroine, was like a bratty teen with “you can’t make me” words and foot stomps.. plus immature antics like putting salt in his coffee, ketchup in his designer shoes, glitter in his car and cutting the buttons off his shirts which were all juvenile petty pranks played on her new husband. Olivia’s meant to be an intelligent responsible CEO or CFO of a Hotel she inherited from her late father - but it’s taken up to chapter 26 before she’s even thought to check in on things. Malakai is Mafia and murder - but he made a bet with his bffs that he could get in Olivia’s pants within a month?!.! Again juvenile for a Boss. Eventually my mind started to drift in and out as the silly push n pulls went on. I only half-heartedly listened whilst I checked emails.. and I even started a grocery list. Somewhere around chapter 27 I saw there were many more hours of this listen to go.. so I hit stop and just decided life’s too short to listen to a book that you’re really not feeling. Narration by Gabriel was good and definitely helped me make it to chapter 27 but Alexis played her part too well and only added to the spoilt teen attitude and vibe.

Worth a credit? No, I checked out from this listen early as sadly it wasn’t for me - but it may get a lot better 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just don’t know.. however, once I mentally pictured Olivia a certain way I couldn’t picture her any other way.
