About this listen

In the New Republic, every woman must marry five men.

It’s the law.

Welcome to the apocalypse.

All Vanessa ever wanted was to be loved.

Okay, strike that - all she wanted was not to die at the hands of the homicidal maniac who was obsessed with hunting her down - and to be loved.

Was that too much to ask?

Going to Jacob’s Well and becoming a Lottery Bride sounded like it would make all Vanessa’s dreams come true.

For the first time in her life, she’d have a family. For the first time in her life, she’d have not just one person to love her, but five.

And she’d be safe. from the notorious female slave trader, Lorenzo Bernal.

There’s just one teeny, tiny problem.

When the lottery husbands are announced, it turns out none of them intentionally entered. And they want out of the bargain.

*Events of this novel occur at the same time as events in Book 2 in the series but Their Bride is a full-length, standalone novel in the series.

Really liked the entire series and how it all plays out. Interesting thoughts on a future apocalyptic world.

THE BEST DAME SMUT I'VE EVER READ!!!

OMG, I loved the first volume of this series and I did not think I'd like the second because someone in the comments said it's just more of the same, but I'm home sick from work and bored so one more credit it is for me! My god was it the best idea, because I'm totally sold on this author now. For real, they changed the narrators and I usually hate that as a follow up to a series, but man it didn't make one difference. No, this read is not "more of the same", The chick has a different personality, background, story and so do the guys. Everything is even done a little differently, which was a surprise and the author still manages to make this funny the way I liked in the first one, I mean pastor Jonas had me dying!!! The only thing that's similar is whats already expected, the concept....... but thats the whole point of the series, isn't it? Look if you see my page you'll see I like allot of smutty romance and this one makes my top ten for smut with an actual great story line. #dontjudgeme.

This is okay and it is like the same story as !!!

Save your credit it is like the same story as the first. No woman came be with more than one man without it turning into a whore house. I don’t understand why men want to have every woman be a virgin but treat her like a whore. Marriage is a one sided affair with the men only gaining and the woman always losing something.

Horrible

This book was horrible from beginning to end. From the description of the book I expected it to be a lot better.

Love the story, but why the change in narrator?

I love this story, and it is a great addition to the series but why change the narrator? He wasn't bad, but the difference in style was jarring.

Boring

Story was disjointed just bt the characters alone. Story was not interesting enough and the romance ...where was that?

I made it to chapter 11 before I tapped out.

I purchased this audiobook for these reasons in this order:
Narrators. It's an audiobook so if I'm going to have someone's voice in my ear for over 10 hours it needs to be a good one. They need to have the tone, inflection and talent that's going to agree with my taste in sound.
Reverse harem (always a great fantasy) and any chance these narrators get to voice multiple characters is always a treat.
Dystopian, post apocalyptic setting. Always great for suspension of disbelief and considering the fantasy of what the world would be like if we had to start over.
Here's where the story lost me:
I can't invest in any kind of romance when the characters start off with body shaming. That is a bell you can't unring. You have just sucked all of the desire right out of the relationship. No one in the world is going to be able to enjoy being looked at by someone who thinks they're ugly. No one is going to relish the idea of being touched by someone doing so only because there are no other options. It turns something that could've been romantic into something that's just disheartening and sad. Some of the words that came out of the male character's mouths made them a permanent turn off. Once that happened. I was done.
