About this listen

"...a highly original take on the fated mate trope. Talionis has a knack for crafting a suspenseful, atmospheric, and gratifyingly erotic love story, with much more beneath the surface than readers might initially expect."
- Publishers Weekly BookLife Prize

Neglected. Abused. Until a wolf follows her home...

Wandering deep into the winter woods to escape her mother's boyfriend, Nat fears she may have run from one horror only to be devoured by another. A terrifying giant of a wolf lurks in the shadows, hunting for prey.

And only one thing will satisfy his hunger...

She sat down gingerly, her body aching, and he looked up immediately.

"Sorry," she sighed as she opened the can. "It's not much, and I don't know if you'll like it."

His whine sounded more like a cry now, and he buried his head under his paws on the ground again.

"No good?" she asked, uncertain.

The whining grew as he leaned up and crawled close enough to her for her to feed him. She smiled in relief, and began scooping some out when her stomach growled.

A bomb might as well have gone off with the way he jumped up and back. Growling, whining—even turning in a circle.

"Jeez! It's just my stomach! You don't have to embarrass a girl."

She held out her hand, waiting with a smile, and he stared, the whine in his throat almost a constant sound now. Her smile faltered, and she dropped her hand to stare down at the can.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what I'm supposed to do," she whispered. Her breath shook a bit as she tried holding the tears back.

It was just because she was tired. She wasn't a crybaby.

He yelped, and she looked up through blurry eyes. He repeated the sound, only it seemed harsher, and his black coat seemed to be vibrating. She wiped her eyes.

The can fell from her fingers as she scrambled backwards until she hit the tree behind her, shock locking her scream in her throat.

All she could do was stare in horror as her wolf's coat grew shorter and shorter, his muzzle disappeared, and a terrifyingly gorgeous black haired naked boy, who might have been a year or two older than she was, stared at her with frustrated eyes.

"I don't want you going hungry for me! I know how to hunt, and you don't need to bring me food!" he exploded.
